Default WeebleWobble goes s/c

Hi I'm Brandon I have a 97 with a few tasteful modifications. I recently aquired a s/c kit and megasquirt. I figured I'd search around for s/c builds and here I am. I'm thinking about pistons, rods, head studs, engine rebuild kit and possibly a clutch for the next items on my purchase list.

My 97 current mods:
949 corrado brake kit
Tein coils
Exhaust cam mod
Hard top
Weapon r intake
High flow cat
4.77 differential

I assume you have a 5spd. How does that work out with the 4.77?

Go turbo.

The five speed is phenomenal with the 4.77, it feels perfect for auto x or the canyons, but sucks for daily use..

I forgot to mention that I'm in Arizona. A turbo could be possible, just finding proper manifolds seems to be fail for me.

Why go sc?

You will hate that 4.77 with any form of forced induction.

Sell fail SC kit for hopefully soon-to-come Trackspeed turbo kit.

I might just make my way to 125mph really quick. I work at the top of a twisty canyon road the 4.77 stays, but I do have an extra 4.30 if its too brutal though.

I want to beat on it with the s/c in the twistys before I make my decision.

If you make a reasonable amount of torque (might be ok if sc is small) with the 4.77 you will spin your tires very easily, especially going up hill.

4.1 is a bit short for my car resulting in 3rd gear traction loss at highway speeds (worse going up hill) especially on imperfect road surfaces, just saying.

Hmm this may be something I need to consider.

This is a pic of my fourth Miata "The Wobble Mobile" a 1992 SE that I quickly bassturdized.

No point in building the motor if you're not going to upgrade the transmission or lots of track use. Or make sure you have a spare transmission.

Actually never mind, you'll never make enough torque to need a stronger transmission...

You will hate that 4.77 rear. I don't even like my 4.3.

Please sell that supercharger kit and buy a turbo kit. Small turbo you will have much much more fun and torque than SC.

To be fair you're probably fine making 200-220whp on a stock 1.8 engine and drive line with a small turbo as long as you don't try and break it.

You should read a lot before buying anything, why waste money?

I assumed you'd be shooting for more power since you're putting stronger pistons and rods in. No need for anything stronger than stock 1.8 stuff (any 1.8 diff will do) and the 5-speed will be fine at that power level.

After hours of research I've decided to go turbo, now I just need to find a kit or pit one together..
