Default What sorcery do I need to be able to sell my car?

Hey guys,

I haven't posted much of anything over the course of 6 years, but I have most certainly learned a ton here in the interwebs of MiataTurbo. Your posts were essential to me building my 2002 Turbo Miata and I appreciate it. So I wanted to say hello and ask what is needed to post my car for sale? I believe I read a while ago that you need to have a certain amount of activity in order to do so, however I can't seem to find that information anymore.

Thanks for your time.

Ryan

You need 10 posts and 10 days of membership. Not too crazy. There is a sticky at the top of the classified section with all the info you need.

The forum has a minimum postcount before anyone can post in the classifieds. This was put in place shortly after the beginning, to combat spammers who would sign up for a new account and then immediately try to post garbage in the for-sale section.

Sadly, it has had unforeseen consequences such as this.

The postcount is something like 10 or 15. I can't recall exactly. Responding in this thread would count, and under the circumstances, the unwritten rules pertaining to same would be overlooked by the staff.

That said, I would point out that the statistical probability of finding a buyer for a whole car in a forum such as this is small as compared to outlets such as Craigslist. Not trying to dissuade you, just a practical reality.

Thanks. I still need to get on Craigslist. I'm asking a lot for the car, but I have yet to be roasted on line so I think I'm pretty close to reasonable price.

I found it under the Miata parts for sale/trade. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Ha. Thanks man. I try real hard not to be a moron but I have a tendency to do stupid things. Still haven't died though, so I got that going for me. Side note, didn't know these little cat things existed until I suddenly got two negative cats. I assume it's my lame attempt at creating meaningless posts of peoples threads.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Cheers

Well that explains the negative cats thing and there goes my "doesn't seem like a moron" status.

I like you. You don't seem like a moron.

The curse of the negcat is lifted.

Not to hijack this thread, but it's been my experience that fabrication-oriented forums see considerably more activity in selling individual parts, than in whole cars. Perhaps the point is that fabrication-oriented people would rather build their own car, than to suffer the personal indignity of buying somebody else's ready-made car... but everyone needs parts. Even so, one supposes that a forum such as this, would offer better prospects to selling something that's specialized, than what one might encounter on Craigslist, where the judgment is based on Blue-Book or some other such generic standard, and modifications are viewed more as a detriment to value, than a route towards saving money by outsourcing the development-costs.

Moronism is hard to avoid. It's a religion which to various extents we all espouse, regardless of our avowed creedal tendencies. Worse yet, I've found that the more I aim to avoid doing stupid things, the greater the wallop by some eventual stupidity... the proverbial calm before the storm. Perhaps, then, it's better to be incrementally stupid, in small and steady doses.

Good luck with sale, BTW.
