Default Your Drunkle and his non-turbocharged Miata

Good morning (or whatever time it is for you) all. Im new here and I have a '99 Miata that I have started doing HPDEs in the southeast with. I don't intend to turbo the car (wrong forum then I guess) but I do intend to make it go around a track faster and this forum seems to have a high concentration of racecars and knowledge. So here I am...

The car is currently fairly stock minus:
- Extended lower front ball joints and SuperMiata Dual Duty Alignment
- Racing Beat front sway bar with SuperMiata end links
- Megan Racing Radiator
- A really nice coolant leak

It under steers currently thanks to the large front bar and stock suspension/rear bar. I was able to manage about 2 minutes flat at Road Atlanta, which I think is borderline respectable but definitely leaves a lot of room for improvement (both me and the car).

Anyways. Hello everyone. I cant wait to ask you guys a ton of questions that have been covered a million times rather than search.

Thanks!

And I'm in western NC. About 3 hours from Road Atlanta, Carolina Motorsports Park, and VIR but not much closer to anything.

I don't do track days in the summer because it's too damn hot to wear a fire suit down here in Florida. But some of us are going up to Miatas at the Gap. And I think there's a track day on Thursday at Atlanta Motorsports Park. There's a thread here somewhere on the Forum.

My home track is Sebring. We will probably be going there in the fall again. Not too far for you I hope.

I've been debating about Miata's at the Gap for a bit. I guess I should just commit and drive over each day as I'm only about an hour and a half from Robbinsville. I still haven't been to the Dragon after about 3 years of living here...

Atlanta Motorsports park is ~3 hours from you and a nice tight track for the Miata. Every Memorial day weekend the Music City Mustang Club out of Nashville has a track day or two for ~$200-$250 but it's the entire day you're out in a run group every 45 minutes between sessions. The MCMC doesn't require a roll bar for Novice/Intermediate groups and only allows passing on 2 straights with a point by so you can drive 7/10ths or 9/10ths if you wish. Lots of Porsche's running up your butt though.

Asheville is one area I've been watching for jobs, lots of weekend twisties nearby.

AMP is a nice track. Technical enough to be challenging, tight enough to allow you to put "the fear of Miatas" into the power-junkies when you're in the corners. I go there as often as I can w/ Track Night In America. You'd enjoy it - although August in Metro Atlanta ain't no joke either!

We need another technician like you wouldn't believe....

And I really want to run at AMP but I thought I was going to die in the heat at RA recently so I think I'll stick around here where its not too hot. Hopefully I can make it in the fall.

Don't ever track a Miata without a roll bar.

I have a Hard Dog. They are pretty cheap anyways.
