2003 VVT Swapped into 1990
Hello, we have recently finished wiring up a 40k mile VVT engine into my 1990 chassis with a fresh Walter 5 speed, Supermiata twin disc, and a 3.90 torsen rear.
Running a MS3 PNP 90-93, which I tuned and had running well when the 1.6 was in the car.
We also installed a Flyin Miata Big Spark, FM Big Flex, and have set all the jumpers for sequential spark and fuel, etc in preparation for turbocharging later.
Also has stock 03 injectors (ID 1050x sitting in my desk), Skunk2 intake, amazon pos header for 4 months until I buy the turbo, 03 tb with idle control wired up, vvt wired up, etc
The swap thread was followed, FM big spark directions were followed, DIYAT directions followed, much reading has been done.
So now to the conflict causing the car not to start. Not sure if the crank sensor happens to be dead, or wiring issue, or tune issue, hoping someone can assist.
Output tests show all injectors click, all coils click. Resistance testing show the cam and crank sensors are wired correctly to the common plug in the 90 harness.
Fuel pump primes up, regulator set to 58 psi
If I set the Ignition to Miata 99-05 then the engine spins but MS shows no timing value and no RPM value, and it never fires.
If I set it to the stock 1990 setting of 4g63 then the engine spins and the MS shows 13 degrees of spark lead (as programmed) but no RPM value and it never fires.
We read to check the wheel for being backwards, which we will do tomorrow when back with the car, but does anyone have any other suggestions? I can post a screenshot of any setting requested in the tune, I would love it to be something simple like that.
Thank you!

got it figured out today, two issues, bad cam sensor and the coils were wired wrong, just decided to wire them all directly to the MS option connector, now it's running.
going to clean up the wiring tomorrow, get it all buttoned up next week and tune it. after I drive it around for some period of time and feel good about it all then I will install the ID 1050x and tune it again.
then I'll come back to this thread for some turbo advice. :-)
Thank you.
