Default 96 ms3x starts only with fuel pump relay disconnected

Hi guys,

Trying to work though this issue on a new ms3x install on a 96 NA8. With the fuel pump relay (B577 under the driver dash) connected the car will only crank and not start. If you disconnect the yellow connector from the relay the car will start and run until stopped.

I built the ms3x using Brain's guide on TruboKitty. Currently running the 94-97 ms3x basemap from TruboKitty with ID1050x injectors.

Worth noting:
  • We tried swapping back in the OEM ECU with the ID1050x's just to see if it would start and no dice.
  • I have run the injector testing and with the relay disconnected all of the injectors fire correctly. Spark has also been tested and confirmed.

We are thinking that the fuel pump relay went bad, but it seems weird that it would start only with the connector disconnected. Going to order one and try that out.

Here is a log when cranking with the relay in that may show something.

Anyone run into something like this?

Default

Not sure if it was an issue with my project in Tunerstudio but after using a new laptop with a fresh project and flash of the base tune, the car starts up and idles normally.. That is.. with the pump relay plugged in. Really weird and I can't say I understand what was going on
