Aftermarket MAX232 Chip???
I fried my MAX232 chip and I need a replacement here in the UK. Is MAX232CPE RS-232 Transmitter/Receiver > Maplin suitable?

That chip would appear to be a direct replacement for the one included with the MS kit. P/N MAX232CPE is exactly what is called for on the schematic.
