Default Can't get the car to start?? 1.8 miatasquirt

Okay so I got the miatasquirt wired in and ready to go. I am trying to get it to run with just fuel control, no spark control for now. I haven't wired up the wideband yet because I wanted to get it running on the nb first.

When I crank the car over nothing happens, it doesn't even try to catch. I'm guessing it's not getting any fuel but I'm not sure why. When I'm cranking the car the pulse width and duty cycle gauges don't get any readings.

My car is a '95 running 029v with megatune 2.25. I'll attach my .msq and hopefully you guys can tell me the problem.

First.
Will it start with the stock ECU controlling it all?

Yes with the stock ecu in control it will start however it barely runs because of the 460cc injectors.

Your msq looks like it's pig rich on start-up.

Lower your cranking rpm to 200 or 300 and get rid of the first start enrichment.

Are you sure that you have the injectors wired up correctly?

When you say miatasquirt are you running a "kingofl337" setup? If that's the case he can't screw up the injectors unless "kingofl337" messed up when modding the stock ECU.

I'm running a kingofl337 set up. As far as I know it's the first one he's made for a 95. He told me he was going to test it out before shipping it to make sure everything was working correctly.

Thanks for the tips.

Did you wire in all 4 wires for injectors? The 1.8 have 4 wires for injectors as opposed to only 2 in the 1.6

His stock ECU is modded so that he didn't have to do any wiring. He just had to plug in the ECU and flick a switch.

If that is the cast then I'd suggest that you either get a little dirty and see what the wiring looks like for yourself, or talk to kingofl337 and get him to provide some customer support.

If you have no idea how your Megasquirt was built or modded then there isn't a hope in hell that we can help you.

I'm not completely clueless, I just can't solder worth a crap and that's why I had kingofl337 build it for me.

I assume the hardware is working correctly because Adam said it tested ok before he sent it to me.

I talked to him earlier today when I was having communication problems and he was very helpful, I called him up when these problems arose but he must be busy now.

I pulled a spark plug and it is soaked...

thanks for the help so far

sorry for the double post but Aussiedriver, will your settings for cranking and enrichment posted in the sticky above work me? I assume they would.

Is your req fuel value set correctly for these larger injectors?

yes, the inputs I put in were 1839cc, 4 cylinders, 460 cc/min (s5 na rx-7 injectors recently cleaned and flow tested) , and 14.7 afr.

This gave me a required fuel of 6.7.

I wonder if one or more of the injectors are leaking, I don't think so because it will run on the stock ecu, it just can't idle and smokes like hell.

As retarded as it sounds, you do have the MAP line hooked up right? I don't know man. Might have to wait for Adam to pick up the phone on this one. There are to many variables to take into consideration right now. He might be able to just outright pinpoint the problem.
Can you start the car up and let it run a bit to get warm and then flick the switch over to MS Fuel while it's still running?

yes the map line is hooked up, but I don't think a vacuum leak is out of the question.

I hope Adam can help me figure it out, I feel bad bugging him this late though.

As far as warming the car up on the stock ecu I think that would much more difficult than it sounds. It barely runs, the ecu just cant deal with 460s, I don't think I could keep it running long enough to warm up, plus I'd probably die from the fumes.

Thanks for the help

sorry for another double post but should I be getting RPM, pulse width and duty cycle readings when I'm cranking the engine?

I'm not getting any of those readings (gauges are shaded red) nor am I getting AFR.

I am getting readings from the MAP, coolant temp, spark advance and manifold air temp gauges.

I'm guessing yes I am supposed to be getting readings from all those sensors (at least engine speed) which may indicate a hardware problem...

you could use your old injectors to let the car run
till it warms up, turn it off, replace the injectors with the 460cc
and start it again with stock ecu, then switch...

sent PM about injectors

Yes you should be getting all of those readings-- No tach signal equals no PW/DC output as the MS can't see the engine spinning so it won't squirt any fuel. I'm sure kingofleet will help you line it out but it sounds like you will need to give him a call...

X 2. As you crank the car the gauges in MT will show some action. Sound like a communication issue.

Do the gauges do anything when its set to stock ECU control?
