Default Can't get car to start after install.

Well, I installed my MSPNP a few minutes ago, but I cannot get the car to start. It's my fueling setup. I have 1.8 injectors and a 190hp fuel pump. (i'm thinking i need to put my stock pump back in).

I have run the req_fuel calculator for the 265cc 1.8 injectors at 14.0 afr (according to the instructions from the MSPNP). I've also started playing with the calcs for cranking pulse-width, but here is where the info becomes confusing.

The PNP base map assumes a pulse width of 7.5ms at 60degree coolant temp (where I'm at right now). I have tried reducing this as far as 4.8 and the car still will not start. I also got a pretty impressive backfire that had half my neighbors out in the street. lol. It's probably flooded, so i'm letting it sit.

any suggestions?

My car fired up with 1.8 injectors and a 190lph hp, so that's not your problem. MS has a flood clear mode, but you can't access it w/o a linear TPS. Suggest you pull the plugs and wipe the tips off (paper towels work if that's what you got, otherwise compressed air).

Are any of your old bandaids still hooked up?

Yes, immediately, first flick of the key. Jerry tests all the PNP's on his car before sending them out, so odds are the box is good.
Let me look through my saved MSQ files to see if I have something called "first start" or what not to share with you.

right now i'm running with the AFM until i get the bung on my intake pipe welded up.

btw, SUCCESS! I was overthinking it by trying to adjust it for my injectors. I plugged the OEM computer in and ran it for a bit (ran like crap at first) to clear up the fouled plugs (after taking them out and cleaning them like you suggested.)

After that, i loaded the msq file provided by MSPNP, reinstalled the megasquirt (almost had an "oh ****" moment as i realized just before i plugged in the harnesses that i had put the ST IGN fuse back in), then it cranked right up!

So far so good. I have some 550s in the mail, and i'll need to send them off to witchhunter. the fun starts in earnest then.

anyone have a MSPNP msq for an intercooled greddy running no AFM and rx7 550's?

Don't use someone elses msq. Just go tune your car using autotune. You'll have to do it with someone elses map anyway.

Thanks, mach. I just want to use the msq as a reference for building my own cranking pulsewidth table.

I'm NA right now with the turbo wastegate wired open. My next step is to get running with the 550's before i try to build a tune for turbo.

One step at a time.

Why not tune for wastegate pressure with the current injectors?

Because I'm lazy.

The car is a weekend plaything. I can wait for the right injectors.

Weird problem. The megasquirt doesn't appear to be priming my fuel pump. I put the stock computer and the fuse back in and it does. i remove the fuse and put in the megasquirt and it doesn't.

This just means the car take a little longer to start from cold and it doesn't want to run properly for the first couple of seconds, but I find it odd.

Remember that the only thing you are retuning when you jump to larger injectors is the acceleration enrichments and the cranking pulsewidths. Lots of guys running 550s who will share the crank PWs. The VE is taken care of by the Req.Fuel; you can swap from 230cc to 800cc injectors without touching the VE (in theory).

I think these two posts are related... Installing the MSPNP MM9093 with the ST SIGN fuse still in place will cause this to happen. It will need a minor repair to correct it, nothing major though.
