At the moment I don't plan to unless I find a guy who I can be around enough to know if he's worth it or not. I don't think I'm gonna blow up the car (famous last words). When I really get down to research and what not, Im capable of most things. Did my research on CLI and spent some time on it today and I'm happy with where it's at now. Ill take things slowly with the turbo installed and make sure the Megasquirt likes what it sees. If I have issues I'll do the same thing I did with my idle, research until I want to smash my face into a wall because it's all I think about.

If **** hits the fan, I'll let you know so you can say "I told you so"

And if I do need help, I always have my friends, and the people on here and msextra

I don't get the rush... You have like months and months off for summer starting in a month and a half or whatever.

But... it's your money and car.

Famous last words indeed.

Start a build thread.

Early start college and hopefully a full time job :( and I'll consider doing a build thread although I've never been very good at updating people via social media and things such as that.

I appreciate your concern. If you want me to be really honest, I feel a little bit under pressure because my friends have been waiting to see this thing go boosted ever since I started sourcing parts months ago and I told them I would likely get started on it this weekend. Even if I didn't start this weekend I'm not really sure what I would do between now and the time that I start the build.

I will strongly consider waiting upon your suggestion. Most likely you are right and it may be a little bit easier over summer even though I still have a busy schedule.

Okay, here's what I would do in your position. You still have a bunch of time left before the school year starts.

Step 1: Start tuning and learning to tune.
Step 2: Install larger injectors and tune them.
Step 3: Install intercooler and cold side tubing.
Step 4: Install Turbo and fuel pump. (maybe install fuel pump earlier).

This way, you've technically started your build so you can safe face. Maybe start doing things like the suspension and sway bars etc. in the meantime.

Your first post in this thread asking about closed loop idle indicates to me that you want to learn to do things right. Don't screw up because of peer pressure. It may take a bit longer to get things together but it will be much more worth it. Seriously.

What is your build going to be?
You really should understand what is going on in tunerstudio before you start installing turbo parts. You cannot expect to plug everything in, start the car, turn on VEAL and go for a drive thinking everything will be fine under boost.

Who built your megasquirt?

Who built your megasquirt?
Whenever we had all those "dont give into peer pressure" lessons at school, all they mentioned were things like smoking and drinking. They never said anything about blowing up my car

I have some of the more basic suspension mods already. I like your step 3 as I haven't installed my GM IAT yet. I've just been using the one in the AFM and it heat soaks pretty bad on a hot start. Will probably have to flatten out my MAT corrections until I install my IAT on the cold side. *Insert rant about Mazda placing the intake directly above the exhaust manifold*

Really for my build I'm trying to have it still be a nice daily, so A/C and P/S get to stay, but I still want the car to put some numbers down and be able to throw the wheels out even when its not raining I would've like to keep a stock ECU in and just use a FPR as obviously I wouldn't have to be doing this, its probably more reliable at times, and I would've saved big bucks. But the fact that I cant make the power I want without a way to control larger injectors sort of pushed me into the MS world. Plus, MS does have a lot of super awesome features that you cant just "bolt on" to a non MS car.

I'm really *probably* not as big of an idiot as I sound at times. Really I understand quite a few of the settings and what not I see in Tunerstudio Especially after the past 3 days being non stop research. I learn extremely quickly and the other good thing about me is if I don't understand it, it pisses me off and I will research the **** out of it until I get it. Its a PNP2 by the way.

Looks like I'll be postponing the hardware install... again.
