Default Configuring ms software help needed

Well today I was attempting to install and configure the ms and get the car running today (diy ms built by brain's writeup)
All was going well (as in I could actually write the 1775 lines from easytherm) until I actually went to open up mt and burn a map..

When I tried to open megatune with the ms powered up I got this error message:

code version does not match signature
expected ms/extra format hr-10 found in ini file
received sns-extra format 029q from controller.

Now I had been following brain's steps, I activated hr-10 and all of that. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and what it ended up being. Thanks.

you need to burn the correct firmware to the MS. 029q is supposedly not Hi-res MSNS-E

I wonder why when I burn it, it's not burning the correct version? Whenever I copy the hr-10 files into my project folder and run the copy-ini.bat is there a way to actually look and see that it upgraded? Maybe that's my problem?

One thing I didn't really mention that might be in relation to this.
I'm using a cheapo usb-serial adapter, although it did come with drivers and I installed them.

When I burned the firmware using easytherm it showed no problems with connection, however if i load mt with ms powered off, then power up ms and try to connect, it says no response.

The only way I can get mt to even act like it's connected to ms is when i power up ms first then try to open mt, which is when I get that error.

Is it possible all these problems are from this stupid adapter, or is it more likely something I did wrong when burning the firmware?

Well im sitting out in the garage right now and I tried reloading the firmware a few times with no change in behavior. I'm thinking it may just be the adapter.

I guess im going to give up and fork over the $30 to get one from diyautotune and wait until it comes in then see what happens.

i had the same problem, solved just by running the bat file in the 10g folder.

I've ran it several times, nothing else special you had to do?'

Ok stupid question, when I run the copyini.bat file do I also need to run the download-firmware.bat, or is it basically the same thing when I load the file to megasquirt via easytherm?

Update:

I guess I'm an idiot, it's official

I ran the download-firmware.bat file, loaded the ms, and finally connectivity...

Car ran for the first time in 6 months today, although it seems I have a severe vacuum leak as the map in my extremely short datalog didnt drop past 98 kpa, and the car didnt want to idle very much, I'll figure this out though.

Thanks for the help

Wouldn't it suck if you forgot to hook up a vac line to the MS? No but seriously, double check that line.
