DIYPNP VS MSPNP

DIYPNP VS MSPNP
I just wanted to see what the main differences were with both products in TunerStudio. Ive read DIYAUTOTUNE.COM features and capabilities list on both, but I feel I need more clarification on TunerStudio Interface. Whats the difference of capability in TunerStudio with either ECUs. Ive been doing plenty of research on here and DIYAUTOTUNE just need a little help. -Nb1Kosubi

I'm no expert with this stuff but feel I can chime in based on experience and what I think I know.
Tunerstudio interface somewhat depends on the firmware/generation of the ECU you are using.
For example a MS1 has limited-size maps and features.
A DIYPNP MS2 gives you all the nice basic features which I'm sure are listed on the site...
MS2 Extra firmware gives you "extra" features *i think* due to expanded code. its just that Tunerstudio is the key to controlling these features of course.
MS3 (DIY or MSLabs) gives the absolute most control (adds full seq., vvt control, etc), and all of it can be done from TS.
TS is just a software, but it works hand in hand with the firmware/hardware its communicating with.
I have a DIYPNP ms2 with ms2e code and my TS looks slightly different when I hook it up to my friend's MSLabs ms2 running newer firmware (totally different "Projects" in TS, but the same TS), gives me a few extra features/different ways of controlling parameters.
With that being said what year Miata and engine do you have?

There's zero capability difference in tunerstudio software.
Pakmx5 is right, sometimes a different firmware will use a portion of MS2's memory for a different function. You gain a feature, and you loose something too. You should be able to write all of these firmwares to near any ms2. Near all the other older custom firmware that did anything like ms3 functions have been scrubbed off the megasquirt forum as "obsolete." You will have a very hard time finding those... The latest official firmware is likely the last firmware, and it's pretty much the pinnicale of ms2. Therefore, zero tunerstudio differences.
Shuiend is right though, ms2 sucks. Buy a MS3.

The DIYPNP and MSPN Gen 2 are closely related. Both use the MicroSquirt Module at their core and run MS2/Extra firmware. However, we've added a couple extras to the MSPNP as well. The biggest changes are that it uses peak and hold injector drivers for low impedance injectors, and we've put an improved knock circuit where you can adjust the sensitivity across the RPM range. We also added a 4 bar MAP sensor and a 1 bar barometric correction sensor. It isn't a huge leap past the DIYPNP in terms of features, but we did squeeze in a couple enhancements.
The MSPNP Pro line is a much bigger jump, as it's based on MS3. This will give you better knock control, the ability to ramp in extra fuel if you spend a lot of time at full throttle, traction control, boost by gear, rally style antilag, and a lot of other high end features.

Software features are identical between ms3 and ms3pro. With the right circuits you can do anything the ms3 pro can do on a regular ms3.
Boost by gear is a software feature. Not hardware.
