Man that sucks....
Glad he didn't have his '99 setup figured out I might have bit at that worm.
Still planning on building my own though.
First plan of action is welding a 90* elbow on my compressor housing to get this darn SR20 T25 working my my existing IC piping.

this is sad to hear, I really hope there is a good excuse for this, but it does not sound good.

(Good job though)

It seems a shame this is going down like it is. His ebay thread selling the PnP MS he wanted to hit 550 to be happy yes? Then interest is piqued, demand goes up (with people quite willing to pay the previously hoped for 550) and the dudes gone...

My wild guess is he'll come back with some reason/excuse. I'm not saying it won't be legitimate. We'll see anyway.

BRG hope you get your MS man.

Maybe you guys could see if Boomslang is interested in making a MegaSquirt extension for the Miata like he has for the e-Manage? You could then just purchase a pre-built MegaSquirt and do the simple hardware mods to it, you wouldn't need to cut a thing on your car.

This is the site for his e-Manage harness:

The emanage harness works because the emanage is a piggyback. The harness they would need to make will only work for a standalone install (or the cost for adding switches, a box etc would skyrocket).

Call me a lucky one. I have a vaunted Kingof337 Miatasquirt in my Miata. It really works wonderfully. There were times I wondered if I was gonna get what I paid for myself. Im sorry to hear of everyones trouble.

What can I do from here? Since I have one in the flesh I'll see if I can ****** it out over the weekend and give everyone the skinny on what it takes to solder this up.

I also have a good EE buddy who likes building stuff on the side. Let me see if he might be interested in building some.

Guys, order your pre-built Megasquirts from DIY Autotune and ask them if they will do the board mods for you. They have done a page on a Miata install, so it's not like they don't know what to do.

And if a group of you place your orders together they might even do the board mods for free.

And don't get yourselves too worked up over kingof1337's apparent disappearance. He went very quiet for a while this time last year as well. I can understand that some of you have a certain level of frustration over the situation, but this could rapidly get out of hand if people keep taking pot-shots at Adam without him having the chance to defend himself.

So folks, stay cool and remember what the DIY bit in DIY ECU should mean. DIY and don't rely too much on others.

And folks, Happy Australia Day!!!

I'm in the same boat as brgracer. Adam has money from me and my ecu and I haven't heard from him since December. I hope to hear from him soon...

What defence could he possibly have? Taking at least two people's money and not answering email for over a month is criminal. He took on a responsability when he accepted pre-payment from people, that no matter what he either should have delivered or refunded the money. He shouldn't be given a break because he's a nice guy or doing this on the side. This isn't a small sum of money and he has people's ECU's too.

Oh well I guess it isn't too big of a deal since he doesn't have my ECU and my money.

what's keeping us from just running ms as a stand alone ecm, even in prebuild buy someone like diy autotune? I don't know alot about it, but it looks to me like ms will run everything.

I can only assume it is massively easier to hook up when you're not dicking with allowing MS to run things like idle, cold start, etc.

As Harry Callahan once said; "A man's got to know his limitations."

Seriously though a Megasquirt isn't that hard to modify or to install. Everything is well documented and there are only a few wires that need to be connected.

I did one of the first fuel and spark installs without all of the lovely documentation about the install that you guys have access to, and I had never done anything like that before.

If you guys can't do the really simple board mods or a few simple wire connections for yourselves then you really shouldn't be using a Megasquirt. The entire ECU design and development is geared towards giving the user a learning experience. If you don't do anything for yourselves then there isn't any point in using it. Just go and buy a FM Link or something so you can be a happy customer and leave the DIY stuff to the people who are capable of doing it.
