Default Do you suffer from FHVS? (Flaccid Homebrew VTPS Syndrome)

When I put my Megasquirt into my 1992 NA6, I was so excited. So many possibilities for upgrades and activities. One of the first things I did was replace the lame switch-type throttle position sensor with a Wells 201 Variable TPS, following the instructions here. I couldn't wait to dive into the world of TPSdot enrichments, and TPS based overrun fuel cut.

Except I had a shameful problem. The mechanical interface between the sensor and the throttle shaft was... lacking. When you file away the "point" inside the Wells TPS to fit on the shaft, it leaves very little flat surface to sit against the flat part of the throttle shaft.

The emptiness around that throttle shaft was like the emptiness in my soul. My TPS calibrations were +/-3% at best, and the performance of my TPS features was embarrassing to myself and my partner.

Fortunately, modern technology has given hope to people suffering from this disorder. I present to you Milliput:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OBBTMW/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503587737&sr=sr-1&keywords=milliput https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OBBTMW/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503587737&sr=sr-1&keywords=milliput

Two part, hardening epoxy putty. It hardens in about two hours, and doesn't seem to shrink as it hardens. I mixed it up and stuffed the gaps between the Wells sensor and the throttle shaft full of that ****. Now my TPS calibrations vary by less than 0.2%, my TPS features work properly, and my partner is proud to be seen rolling around town in my Miata. (ok, I may be exaggerating on that last part).
