i used the blue spade by the headlight like you said and when i ground it to the frame how do i get it to click???

Braineack 01-02-2008 11:34 PM

its under codebase options and outputs under basic settings.

tapping the ground to the frame (or ground) will cause the solenoid to close, you'll hear it click. i wanna make sure it's working.

turbobluemiata 01-02-2008 11:39 PM

when i go to codebase it says js2 is boost control but its like -10 degrees outside so ill check tomm

turbobluemiata 01-04-2008 12:56 AM

okay when i connected the laptop today and turned the key i see that output1/boost at the bottom "isnt" highlighted green like i had thought the one next to it is does that mean it isnt getting power? and didnt have time to ground it to hear for clicking but have all sat and sunday to check that

Braineack 01-04-2008 09:22 AM

I've never really paid attention to that green highlighted box, so i cant tell you if it should light. the car will have to be on however, because it activates at a minimum of 100RPM.

the wiring should be good. the only thing I can think of is maybe a MICA insulator needs to be installed under the FET itself. I have not confirmed if this is the case however.

but confirm the solenoid itself does work, then we know where to start going from there.

turbobluemiata 01-04-2008 09:21 PM

so i need to start the car and ground it and listen for it to click?

Braineack 01-04-2008 10:00 PM

read my post i just posted in this section. i think i need you to buy a little insulator and put it under the transistor that runs the solenoid.

pick up a MICA insulator at radio shack, and then give me a call when you have a chance and ill walk you through what you'll need to do.

pm your email and ill send my number.

turbobluemiata 01-04-2008 10:43 PM

okay how hard is this and how long will it take do i need to remove the ms??

Braineack 01-04-2008 10:50 PM

yeah you gotta open it up. I posted about it.

you'll ahve to open the MS up and unscrew the FET, then put the insulator inplace and screw the FET back in place on top of it.

shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. you need a small pair of pliers and a screwdriver.

cjernigan 01-04-2008 10:51 PM

It's easy. Remove the screws from the case. Remove the screw from the FET. Coat mica with thermal paste(should be enough on the fet that you can use what you have. Install under FET making sure it's not contacting the leads of the FET itself

edit: too bad i type slow sometimes

turbobluemiata 01-04-2008 10:55 PM

Okay wow im not an electronic genius so ill probaly need help with this cuz i dont know what a fet is? or a mica insulator?

Braineack 01-04-2008 10:58 PM

see my other post that i started about this. ill do a little writeup for you.
