Default EBC unused port?

Just installing the diyautotune ebc and wondering what to do with the unused port?

Nothing special is mentioned so it sounds like you leave it open to atmosphere. Only reason I ask is that my ebc is mounted with the open port facing up and I'm concerned about contaminating the valve... should I cap it off somehow?

Thanks

Its the vent. Either leave it open, run a hose from it to your pre-turbo intake, or put a little breather filter on it. If you cap it nothing will work.

Thanks Leafy. I'll try to find a way to keep stuff from getting in the valve.

Wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't suck. It blows.

Since we're talking about that valve, the instructions say that it has to be installed in one certain direction. Is there a reason for how it is installed? Is there a check valve in there or something? Mine is installed backwards, and I dont want to switch it around if I don't have to.

I'm thinking your guess regarding a check valve is correct for operating under vacuum. You don't want to swap the vacuum lines around?! #easymod

I'd like to understand why it's directional. it works fine like this.

If your EBC ever fails, it will fail to full boost.

Because if it's plumbed backwards, instead of switching from manifold pressure to vented, it switches from manifold pressure to blocked. Brain is correct that this removes one of the key failsafes. On some setups, you won't have any boost control at all.
