Question Heater fan does not work after MS3/MSx

93 Miata with an 03 1.8 and MS3/MSx (DIY)

I pulled the blower unit (heater fan) in order to get to the wiring through the firewall.

I have not gotten to testing AC yet,no rush on that.

When i turn the fan on, I get nothing. Does the MS3/MSx have anything to do with the fan working? From my basic reading the diagrams it does not look like it does.

I understand that the AC will not engage without the fan on but I do get the AC light on TunerStudio when I engage the AC, so I know that signal is coming from the AC to the ECU.

I have checked the fuse, the windshield wipers (evidently they use the same relay under the dash).

I just need to know if I am hunting something that is controlled by the ECU or just a simple relay.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

Nevermind... Turns out that the fan actually is routed via the starter and I have been using a trigger to start the car so I was not in and out while testing.

Pulled the trigger off and plugged the wire back in and fan just blew. AC clutch and fan didn't engage, but that is for another day.

reset the fan breaker. seriously, there's a breaker you can reset in the in-cabin fuse panel.

however, the a/c can absolutely work without the heater blower turning.

It was actually easier than that. I had to unplug the wires from the trigger setup that I had on my starter. The heater fan runs via the starter... who woulda thunk it.
