REV help me. i do nothave a wideband but my AFR IS 28!!! REALLY BAD everything else is working properly just had to dink around. Disregard my last post. IT runs like a POS and TIming is erratic jumping from 10-4 just in milisectonds. i unpluged my Cruise control cause i would not work with the T included. HELP??? higher AFR means too rich correct??

Braineack 05-31-2007 10:41 PM

you have to set your timing now...follow the instructions provided by DIY.

also make sure under EGO you're set to narrowband, not wideband.

cjernigan 05-31-2007 10:52 PM

AFR 10 is Rich 18 is lean for example.

SKMetalworks 06-01-2007 12:48 AM

still runs like shit. i set the timing as best as i coul but it jumps 4* very irratically from 10-6. I swap the ECU back to the factory one and for about half a second it runs really bad then works great with 10* right on the money w/ timin light.. this leads me to believe its a AFR problem. Anyone know how to fix this

Matt Cramer 06-01-2007 08:27 AM

About the timing - do you have the spark option there but grayed out, or is it not there at all? The installer is supposed to set it up for your code variant, but Vista may do funny things to it.

SKMetalworks 06-01-2007 12:38 PM

i can change the timing and spark option is there it just runs bad

Matt Cramer 06-01-2007 12:59 PM

Be sure it's set up for the oxygen sensor you are using - if it's configured for a narrow band, it will probably just give you volts rather than an AFR.

Have you used the fixed timing settings to get the base timing adjusted?

Also, if you could provide a summary of your mods, that would be very helpful. Some mods require changes to the base map.

I see you mentioned problems with the tee we included for cruise control. Could you describe what issues you had in more detail? How is the MAP line routed now?

SKMetalworks 06-02-2007 03:08 AM

well currently im about 800 miles from my car. i feel like an idiot on my drive to montana i was reading the manual and realized I NEVER LOADED THE BASE MAP. i felt like a fcking idiot runnin the car with no fuel changes and on 1 cylender at that. But ive been messing around with a few things but cant really start tuning it till i get back to my car. Anyway ive read up a lot and i should of done that before but ya know i was excited.

MODS- Stock (ordered turbo before i boght this and turbo is comin in the mail greddy kit w/ intercooler)

Ive gotten Knocksense but im not very tech savvy and going to have somone help me put it in.

Also have Water injection coming,Wideband, 440cc injectors, and a few more things. My MAP line runs from where DIY sugjested it too and i routed it through a hole in the firewall.

Oh and the TEe Included one size is too small for the cruise control line. its not a big deal now ill fix it when i got time.

Matt Cramer 06-04-2007 08:26 AM

It should have a base map loaded from the factory, but you will need to get the timing set. If your timing is way off, it will probably not run smoothly. The software lets you temporarily lock out the timing so as to make it easier to set this.

Note that sometimes issues with connecting can accidentally overwrite the base map settings, so it wouldn't hurt to reload it.

Let me know what size tee turns out to be the right one - we want to get this corrected for our kits in stock.

FoundSoul 06-04-2007 12:24 PM

Do let us know about the Tee as Matt mentioned-- it works fine with the cruise control on our '95 car.... I trimmed about 1/2" of line off the stock cruise line to get past the stretched out section and then it fit like a glove.

SKMetalworks 06-04-2007 10:57 PM

So right now im sitting right where i started. I have loaded the base map and burnt it to the ecu ( i know this cause i opened up MT with 0 mods and fetched it from the ecu) So is there soething im missing that would keep the ECU from sending the right shit to the engine. I have no idea and im sick of not knowing what to do. My turbo kit comes tomorrow and i want to atleast have this installed.

Ben 06-04-2007 11:16 PM

that cruise line you pulled off, there's not a gaping vac leak is there?

what's the problem, i thought you could start the car now. did you go through the timing procedure EXACTLY as written in the instructions? did you even read the instructions? is the afm on the car or removed? which version of the firmware are you using?

SKMetalworks 06-04-2007 11:45 PM

the car runs horrible. it doesnt even sound like its running on all 4 cylinders. the TIMING is ERRATIC while trying to time. there should not be a VAC leak and even so it would still run A LOT better ( i left it unpluggedw/ stock ecu and just ran a LITTLE rough. so its not that. ITs the same exact thing it runs like shit and i dont know what to do. im using 2.25 version. nothing has been removed the whole car is sto\ck.

YES i read instructions. i spend 3 days reading all the manuals that came with it. and i dont understand. i cant time the car the timing is too erratic. its something to do with the AFR because when i plug the stock ecu back in to go to work in runs like a whore for a second then runs like a champ w/ stock ecu.......

FoundSoul 06-05-2007 08:10 AM

Rather than use the base map that's in the unit at this point, which could have even gotten corrupted with all of the communications issues you fought through with Vista and your USB adapter-- go ahead and download the latest base map and load it-- http://www.megasquirtpnp.com/mspnp_downloads.htm

Then... what is different on your car from stock? Do you have any bandaids? Bigger injectors? Is the AFM removed?

Did you set 'fixed angle' to 10 degrees (not -10) in order to try setting base timing?

Please help me help you here...

SKMetalworks 06-05-2007 12:18 PM

its stock. only thing thats aftermarket right now is catback exhaust. ill try the base map. is that for the miata? 93 1.6 L?

FoundSoul 06-05-2007 12:25 PM

If it's bone stock as you mentioned the base map above should fire it right up-- no problem at all. Your unit ran my car just fine in testing (all units are tested on a live car right now) and it's a stock '91 1.6l car... it should do the same for you. I would recommend the latest map from the link above, and yes those are the maps designed specifically for the MSPNP MM9093, which is for the 1.6l 90-93 Miata. I wouldn't link you to anything else for use with the MM9093 ;).

SKMetalworks 06-05-2007 05:18 PM

how do i download it. it just opens up the code. have you had this problem before. its a 93 LE w/ abs. i have no idea what to do =/

Ben 06-05-2007 05:22 PM

What was your timing adjust procedure?

Right click the link and choose 'save as' or 'save file as'. Then open MegaTune while connected to your MSPNP and open the new base map to load it into your MSPNP. It will ask you if you want to burn it to the MSPNP, say yes.

SKMetalworks 06-06-2007 12:50 AM

timing procedure was set the rate to +10 ( or something). then adjust using the degree angle. i didnt want to time it cause it would not stay at any number closely enough. it would jump 4-6 degrees so there was no way i could time it.
