Default Help, my MS won't talk!

The subject: MS1 on a 90 miata built by brain.

The background: when built the r7 resistor was not installed and the wires for the usb mod were soldered directly to the processor legs 12 and 13. When I was installing the r7 resistor one of the wires (for the usb mod) came off the chip; so I soldered it back on, heated the chip up too much, and end result burnt up the 13 leg of the processor (I believe it is for communications) Prior to the install the MS communicated with the car, had the hi res firmware installed, and I attempted to use megatherm but only got a partial flash resulting in the ecu needing a full reflash.

The currnt problem: got the new chip in, my friend installed it for me with no usb mod, he installed the jumper and tried to do a fresh install via serial and nothing happens. All the appropriate lights light up but no communication between laptop and MS. Anybody have any ideas? We are all out.

there are two traces that had to be cut on the board, so you wont be able to communicate via the serial port. no lights at all with no firmware seems normal. to use the serial port you'll need to jump the cut traces or get mr usb back on....
