Default Idle stalling

Hi All!

I've been lurking the forum for a while and I searched the forums back and forth trying to get all the information I can. I've found several topics with similar issues, and the solutions there have helped me a lot to further tune the idle, but this problem still is hunting me.

First of all, the specs:
1999 Mazda Miata (mostly stock)
  • MS3Pro PnP
  • Fab9 CoP
  • FM Stage1 Happy Meal w/ 10.3lb flywheel
I just bought the MKTurbo complete kit and I started by installing the MS to learn how to at least get the car running before putting everything else together.

The problem: The car stalls when I depress the clutch under low load. For example, while backing up in my driveway.
The log is from exactly that moment, I was just backing up into the garage and the car stalled.

I need to keep polishing the VE Table? Is an issue with the CLI transition and the initial values? I still need to learn how to better interpret the logs and extract all the information from them.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I would suggest starting to switch to closed loop idle control. It was probably the first thing I did on a local friends 99 when we installed the MSPNP-Pro. That along with the idle VE table made things a good bit easier. Tune idle to run at about 13.7-14:1 AFR for now. I will see if I can get my friends tunes before we installed the flow force injectors.

Also make sure you check out all the videos in this thread. They are great to get your mind wrapped around things.

I'm using closed loop for the idle.

I've seen the Pedxing videos and they are REALLY good. I've learn a lot from them.

I'm also waiting to figure out this stalling issue before putting on the new injectors. Can't wait to get everything put together!

Ok, some more information. It seems to only happen when the car is hot. Today in the morning idle was super smooth and everything, didn't stall once. When I was getting to work and parking, the car stalled for the first time.

I realized that if I'm stopped and I turn the wheels, the RPM drop for some reason.

I'm attaching a log where that happens, where at the end the car finally dies.

That would be from the Power steering pump adding load when you're turning the wheels.

(assuming you have PS here)

yeah, I have power steering.
after some tuning I was able to keep a very stable idle under different loads/ac/etc. but I still have that weird stall when I'm backing up into the driveway. It seems that the I'm not compensating enough for the load of the power steering.

Another weird issue, is that I stalled recently and then when I started the car again, the MAP sensor kept reading 100kpa ALL the time. Of course the car was super rich in this condition, and even applying throttle didn't move the MAP sensor at all. (Attaching log also for this)
