I think the "good of the forum" should be considered because I'm seriously terrified of this swap and I'm going to ask tons of stupid questions. There's also a megaton of work to do just to get the car started. I'm really worried about wiring in the cam sensor, crank sensor, and getting it started on VVT.

Stop being a beta bottom bitch. I told you exactly how to wire the NB sensors up. Honestly it is connecting 7 wires total including the VVT power. After that with the MS Reverent sends you it should start right up as long as you switch it to use the NB sensors in the ignition settings.

On a side note, if my green car's bottom end is bad, I'm going all kinds of crazy and rewiring the car, so that will teach me something.
If I get one wire wrong, I'll be very upset. A long time ago, back when I had the Corrado, I failed miserably at wiring in the Haltec E6k. After about 3 months of scratching my head, and melting a bunch of coils I realized their spark output was "inverted" rather than what it displayed. In the process, I also smoked most of the harness. I started on that install in Novermber and I think I got it running in August. Then I made a huge mistake and selected a 2-tooth wheel instead of 4 on the cam sensor and over-revved the engine and spun bearings. It was not a happy existence. I don't want to go back there.

The VVT plug has 2 wires, Purple and I believe Yellow-Purple. Basically you hook one of them to the same 12v wire on the CAS plug that you hook the cam and crank 12v to. Then you run the other VVT wire back to your MS.

Yes, but you need to find somewhere to put it, the stock location is taken up by the oil feed for the VVT.
I literally strapped my 1996 coils to the camcover for the first few weeks after swapping to a 2001 engine.
Then I sourced some Toyota COPS and ran with them.

At least you'll have something in common with your VVT cam when you **** the wiring up.
Using the 2001+ coils are the only real solution. You can rig some **** up with bent up sheet metal to hang your coils off the side of the valve cover but it looks like ****. Although I made it through 2 autocrosses with my 1997 coil pack zip tied to the oil line. Make sure you use the heavier zip ties, thin ones get hot and melt.

I am in the planning stages of doing this swap myself. I already have the car '90 running a '96 1.8 on a DIYPNP. My plan so far is to tap the new TB sensors into the factory harness (READ: change the plugs) and wire all the new NB CMP, CKP and VVT valve on a separate harness to the VVT controller. I am still trying to figure out the coils. I have a set of the '01 coils, but I might switch them out to something else.
I have an engine harness from a '99 already, I actually used a plug I found on a Protege harness I had laying around for the VVT valve plug. I will route the wiring through one of my unused holes for the A/C lines.

I wouldnt say quite easily but I absolutely HATE wiring!!!! To the point I would rather pull the entire engine out to have to mess with wiring. Adding the cops is easy just time consuming on my part. I didnt have a entire day to devote to it. It took me a week of nights after softball practise and one saturday morning to get the valve cover drilled out. I ran my stock 1.6 coil pack for 3-4 months just with one bolt to the valve cover and then ziptied to the oil line.
