Megasquirt Bugs Thread?
Hi All,
I am wondering if we have, or would want a thread containing known Bugs/odd behaviors with the various Megasquirt products. I have come across a few, and feel that it might be useful to post them.
Thinking at a minimum we should include HW version, FW version, TS version if applicable, description of issue, any known work-arounds, anything special about the install that might be of importance.
For Example:
HW: custom Westfield board based, MS3PRO module
FW: 1.51 release
TS: Ultra(Beta) v3.0.60.18
Issue:
"Torque/HP" performance fields get wonked by SD logging with 128 byte log data block length
The logged values for torque are non-sense when 128 byte block lengths are used
Work-around:
Use 64 byte
Issue:
CAM position sensor glitch (RPM specific) with VVT Tooth filter enabled
I have a non-standard cam crank install, so this may only appear on my set-up. The VVT cam wheel has been modified to have a single tooth. This is done by cutting the single tooth off, and filling the gap between the double tooth with conductive material. The Crank position sensor is located on the intake manifold side of the crank wheel as opposed to the exhaust. 36-2 FM wheel. In the RPM range of ~2200 to 2800, I will occasionally see a flat spot in the reported VVT angle. This appears to happen during positive and negative slew of the commanded VVT angle. The PID winds up during this period, and when the angle comes back, it has spiked due to the wound up duty-cycle. I do not get any sync errors during this flat spot, which makes me think it is isolated to the VVT code.
Work-around:
Turn tooth filter off.
Issue:
Closed loop control of Boost channel 2 doesn't work
Work-around:
None known
Issue:
TPSDot values in excess of the time based AE threshold reset the EGO PID.
Work-around:
Set the threshold high enough? Increase the TPS filter strength
Update: Issue confirmed, resolved in a beta release
Edit: updated 20190216
