Default Megasquirt Problem, No spark, no fuel, cant connect to pc, + more. Help please!!

Right so I got a megasquirt built by Reverant off here. He has been more than helpful in answering my noobish questions about it too. But we've now everything back in, and the car wont start. So thought I'd also throw it up here to see if I could get some other suggestions, help or ideas. Have to map the car this weekend as have a drifting comp saturday week, and alot of other stuff to do before then. I am not a mechanic, but try and understand and learn as best I can, but I apologise if any of my info or answers are stupid or ill informed lol! I have searched alot on here, but just cant seem to find an answer. Sorry if I'm blindly missin it!

Spec is:
Early 90s 1.6 engine rebuilt less than 15k ago,
T25 turbo,
Intercooler, manifold, downpipe, etc etc
Innovate MTX-L wideband
TPS sensor, IAT sensor etc.
Megasquirt MS2/Extra V3.1.0 firmware I believe
550cc injectors
DIY Autotune EBC soleniod

Engine cranks over, but no spark and no fuel. Power is going to the ecu. Power going to the TPS sensor aswell so that means the ecu must have power going through it right? Wideband all seems to work fine.

Cant seem to connect to the laptop via serial to usb connection either. I've since read on here in the FAQ that changing the port to lower than 10 could help. On tunerstudio though I used the mini terminal to send a S, and got back the megasquirt details (something I saw online). So that means the ecu must be working right? Cant seem to get anything through megatune, but that could just be the port thing. Will try that tomorrow. Or maybe I'm just setting it up wrong? Should it be version 2.25 I'm using?

However as far as I can understand, since it should have a base map, then it should start? Connecting to the laptop is a problem, but shouldnt affect the actual starting of the car? It would I imagine help to diagnose the problem though.

So any suggestions or help on what we should check tomorrow evening? Anything at all that we could even rule out would be greatly appreciated as I've thrown everything I have into this, and now I'm very close to torching it.....

Well the fact that you got the megasquirt details by typing S helps a lot! That means that the ECU is alive and that the usb to serial cable works, so its a matter of getting TunerStudio to communicate as well, in order to see what the problem is.

Please describe the steps you take to setup the project in tunerstudio. The firmware version is 3.1.0.

Hey mate, yeh tunerstudio was not something I actually setup much, or right probably tbh. I was more concentrating on megatune.

I know for megatune I set up the project as:
MSII - Grippo and Bowling
Idle controller as (on/off fiddle valve, I actually havent a clue which one it should be)
Lambda sensor as (wideband but none of the above as MTX-L isnt listed)
Fueling Algorithim as (Speed_density)
Left the MAP as the one selected (default)
Selected celsius, and left the other stuff, Kpa values and colour as it was

I didnt try much with tunerstudio, only could use the mini terminal.

I will use my laptop this evening (about 3-4 hours time, 6-7pm GMT), to try the com port lower than 10 or ideally lower than 5. Could only use com 11,12 and 16 on my mates laptop.

So downloading tunerstudioMS now on mine and will try and set it up correctly. What settings should I use or go about setting it up?

You can only use Tunerstudio with this ECU and firmware!

Also if I cant use Megatune, can I still do all the launch control, rev limit, boost control etc options that are in that? Can I use megalogviewer? What can I use in effect? How do you map it? Or can tunerstudio do all this?

Ecu definition is "MS2Extra Serial310". If that option is not available, give me your email and I will mail you the proper definition to use.

Yes, TunerStudio is not limiting you in any way. Bear in mind that launch control was NOT built in your ECU (boost control was, per your requirements).

Yeh I know I would have needed the output to button/clutch. But just more mean that all the same features are there (as there seems alot in megatune). Or does it all have to be done at time of build? Like flat shift etc? Probably wont use any of them anyway, but just wondering. But after a quick look at tunerstudioMS I'm gonna get the full version and that looks proper epic. Need to make a dash out of that somehow!!

Making progress here anyway! I presume that since I got the "S" mini terminal signal back, that once I set it up correctly then it should connect fine? Then to try and diagnose the problem...

Sent! Just choose "Other" and select the file I sent you.

The MS has a lot of features but not enough ports/outputs/inputs to enable them ALL. So you can only build some of them, not all.

Yeh thats fine I got into tunerstudio properly just offline, and I can see all the features. Looks perfect.

So just need to know for the other settings so I can be sure:

Ego 02 Sensor: Should I select "wideband sensor but none of the above" or "innovate sensor giving 1-2V 10-20:1 AFR" for my Innovate MTX-L?

Do I leave the rest as is? I'll change to Celsius though. MAP Baro OFF?

Select the right com obviously and the 115200 speed

Anything else I need to set or change?

Well actually nevermind that as you dont have those options with the file you opened. I jest left them all as is apart from changing to wideband?

Select the wideband by using Innovate 0-5V -> 0.5-1.5 lamda, and only enable the "Extended CLT temp" option.

So since I dont have all those settings now do I just do:

02 sensor/display:
Options are Lambda, narrowband, wideband........I'm presuming I select wideband
Activate "Extended CLT temp" and thats it?

Right so out at the car now. TunerstudioMS connected up fine. Calibrated the TPS sensor so it reads 0% and 100%. Still will crank but wont start. No fuel pump priming (cant hear it) and no fuel or spark. Whats the next step?

When you crank, do you have a constant RPM reading? It should be between 150 and 250, never dropping to 0 once it starts reading.

Right the guy who will actually be mapping the car is here. He wants me to ask you what the crank setup is? Whats the crank input basically, as think this could be the issue. Its not reading anything crank wise I think. What and also where even is the crank position sensor?
