Default megatune is crushing my soul

I think it keeps corrupting msq's on saves. It seems like once per month or so I load up an msq at cold start, and the car won't idle during warmup. I don't know what's going on, but I really think its spark related because changing fuel around does nothing...considering the WB pegs lean, indicating the motor is puking unburnt fuel. I get an awesome 400rpm idle, almost like its firing every other rotation...something is jacked.

After comparing all (and I mean all) settings, they match my base DIY map. However I load up another msq, and it works fine, just have to import tables and go. Then, when the car is back up to temp, I can use the fucked up msq just fine.

I really want to drive this car without the notebook computer. BTW, megatune is still fucked up and I have to close and restart the program after any burning. Unistalling and clearing the registry, then installing didn't fix the problem.

thanks for the help.

btw, when the car is running now, it gets 32mpg and runs like fiya.

I was having a similar communications problem to what you described in a different thread. It was a driver conflict between the serial/usb adapter and my new laptop's USB driver. The adapter worked fine on my old notebook and on my wife's notebook. Installing DIY's onboard USB card into the MS fixed the problem right up and now Megatune runs smooth as glass, hasn't frozen up a single time since.

Do you start up without the notebook?

Or do you start up the notebook everytime?

this only happens if I start up with the notebook, but I can't get cold start working, to enjoy starting without the notebook. Cold start is the only thing left to **** with for NA tuning.

I think he is having issues where he can't get the car to cold start right without the computer but is having issues causing the new maps get messed up. So he has to load a different map to cold start and then reload the old map once the car is warm.

My coldstart **** is whacked out. It never cold starts...I wonder if the IAC valve is trash? I shouldn't have to change anything from the diy settings, so I haven't. I've only been adjusting the wizard values, which are different every time I try to start the car. I'm leaning toward a mechanical issue, over MS, which is infallible.

Could it be possible that the idle stop screw needs adjusting?

I don't remember the cell designations in the wizard since I'm at work, but the first cell above (colder) 160* is 148, then 155, then 168. I don't think this is right.

it idles fine when warm though.

It was 18* this morning, so I awoke 30 minutes early to work with it, and I had the same problem.

Thats what you're using for your warmup wizard...? That's far too much. At 160* you should be at 100 not 148.

You should be adjusting cranking PW's for coldstart anyway not the WUE wizard.

160* can't be changed. I'll set everything back to the default #'s and play with pw's then. I was just following the diy directions.

Do you have your afterstart enrichments on? They make a big difference i would try some more fuel via that, esp since you said yourself the map is pretty spot on when warm or in decent 60+ degree weather. I think i have a 30% enrichment at 18 or so Degrees and it goes up to 80 at -40.

if it dont start it could easily just be your cranking PWs. IIRC they didnt tune the values past 60°

duh, I forgot something really important. Yesterday, the mspnp would not stop making noise...one long beep, that lasted for a while until I finally loaded up a good map. My **** is crazy.

ASE is on, but even after the 30 second enrichment period, it still feels like **** until I load up another .msq.
