Default A method for WUE tuning

Hi all,

This is just to make sure that what I'm doing is sane and perhaps give other people some ideas.

In order to tune WUE, I'm using MegaLogViewer. I've created a custom field: 100*[AFR]/[AFR Target 1]. On a scatter plot, I map it against CLT and use hits on the Z axis.

To find out how to adjust the WUE table in TunerStudio, I check where the plots are at each temperature that I have on my WUE curve. The plots can be a bit fuzzy, so use the colours (number of hits) to evaluate the weight of the plotted data.

Say the custom field value is 95 at 0 degrees Celsius (slightly rich), I multiply the WUE % by 0.95. So far it has been a breeze to get the AFR to match the AFR Target through the temperature range. Below is my current WUE table. It is tuned down to 0 degrees and below that point it's a best guess.

Obviously, in order for all of this to have any meaning, a well tuned fuel table is essential.

Any comments?

BTW, the 100* in the custom field formula is necessary to get enough detail to the x axis scale. without it, it goes 0.9, 1.0, 1.1... Not nearly enough to fine tune by.

I guess that one way, I've never had an issue just sitting there watching it warmup and adjusting it on the fly as needed.

Actually, I should try and grab a log of it just warming up during idle. When I did the above log, I just drove off. Would be interesting to see if there is any difference in (AFR/AFR target) idling and driving during warm-up.

I mean it's the same multiplier...Sounds like you're solely compensatiting for the extra oxygen in the atomosphere.

I target just a bit fatter during warmup, but there's probably no need for it. It's really an emissions thing were more timing + rich AFRs = hotter cat and a warmer motor. Saying this actually makes me want to go retune it to just maintain normals idle AFRs during warmup.

What you are doing is sane from the standpoint of theory but insane from the standpoint of complexity.

Like Brain said, just sit there one day and let it idle until warm. Make the adjustments on the fly using the wizard to hit your target AFRs as you warmup. Done. Don't even bother logging it.

You have effectively designed a VEAL for WUE. I say you should post it on MSextra. Maybe it will be included in a beta version. I know that there is actually a VE table VEAL option that is hidden in the software.

With a few iterations you could get it 95% there.
