Default Throttle Position Sensor for 1.6

I have just ordered my MS and I am trying to get everything together that I need to make a (hopefully) smooth install. From what I have read, my car does not have a variable TPS, but the automatic cars do.

Will a later year throttle body off an auotmatic 1.8 car fit the 1.6 or would I have to stay with the 1.6 size?

I saw someone used a GM TPS. Is that an easy install or is it kind of mickey mouse?

It is very comforting to see a MS forum here. I think I will be visiting often!

You don't need to have the tps connected at all unless you have to run a hybrid alpha-N fuelling algorithm. The rpm based acceleration is excellent and it doesn't need the tps.

If you do want to run a TPS, you can use any variable TPS and just calibrate it in MegaTune.

Damn that just saved me $100 for a 1.6 automatic TB!

Miata 1.8 TB's are not compatable with 1.6's Intake Manifolds

Here is where I got my info from

Yes, keep in mind that MSnSE can do:
1) Alpha N
2) Speed Density
3) Hybrid Alpha N
4) MAF

I purchased a 90 Protege Automatic throttle body as I got a slight bog using MAPDOT on the 26 code. Sounds like they have gotten better. But it was only $20.00
