MLV problems with Win 7

I just installed Win7 Ultimate (student discount FTMFW) and tuning life has been interesting since.
I also needed to reflash ECU yesterday...which meant new installs of everything.
The MLV install doesn't want to recognize datalogs or .msqs.
I can manually open datalogs with it by going through Windows Explorer and doing and "open with"...but can't get around it this way with the "Open MSQ" button inside MLV.
Anyone else had this problem?
Anyone know how to fix it?
Sorry for starting new thread, but slammed with studies and having a ton of MS related issues, may post more problems here later.
160mile roundtrip commute with quirky ECU and schizo VE table ftl.

I can do that in explorer for the .msq, but when I select mlv as the program it says log file is empty.
I can't get the "OPEN MSQ" button in mlv to work. When the browser folder comes up it doesn't show ANY of my .msqs...just the default 9093. Even when I open that one it doesn't load up the right VE table or Target AFR table (I loaded mine in there...thinking I'd start anew...but no dice).
Also, MLV looks *different*. Don't know if it's Win7 or a crummy version, but this one was updated in Aug.

I havent had that problem. Im running windows 7 on my netbook.

My MSQ's load fine, but since im running TunerStudio for tuning, my log files are now saved in .msl format.
Go to the help menu and see if there are updates needed.
Are you running the newest version of Java?
Did you set the permissions as "Open as Administrator"?

Ok...I have the most recent MLV and Java.
Not sure about permissions...and logged on as administrator, and changed what I could in way of permission needed on control panel.

Try running for compatibility.
Open up the properties and check the tabs for a "Open for Compatibility" setting, and choose Windows XP. There are bunch of other settings at the bottom there, one of them being "run as administrator" under there.

whaa.... Does it open any other MSQ's or DLogs?
Try saving a blank MSQ to see if it opens in MLV. From this point, I dont know what to tell ya, but thats how my computer is set up right now and it works no problem.
It could be that you have a bad download? Try redownloading, see if it works.
If all else fails, go back to winXP? Dual boot?

Tried Windows 7 for a couple of weeks also. MLV behaved fine for me. Reverted back to XP though because my wireless connection locked up every half hour or so.
Also got blue screens because of a bad (Vista) driver for the USB->Serial convertor.
Micro$oft better get their act together or W7 is going the same way as Vista, nowhere.

^haha
Marc and all...thanks for the help.
UPDATE for future searchers:
Win 7 doesn't like for programs to write and save files into their install folder.
The solution is simple...you have to save the datalogs and .msqs somewhere else. Then MLV will open both without a hitch all day long. Be careful moving things though as it's easy to lose your .inis etc.
I just started a folder on my desktop, had becomed to accustomed to living out of the project folder, which was giving me hell here.

I'm actually considering a win7 upgrade. I've been using it dualboot on my old tablet/laptop for a while now and it's pretty rock solid. the only problem is it doesn't really support my flakey cheap OBDII reader via USB, but maybe I can bypass that and run it straight from the serial port.

I was dual-booting Beta with XP...but got a licensed copy from school for $15 and did a clean install.
Beta was incredibly solid, and had been using it since the first of the year. I'm gradually working out the kinks with the install and hope it's just as reliable.
Full version se
EDIT:
so it just crashed while I was typing that...strange...but booted right back up.
Was gonna say it seems to use more power...but only been two days and still need to iron out settings.

nice. did you upgrade from vista or did you install it properly? I hear the upgrade path destroys the improvements win7 makes over vista.

Although I've been using a Mac lately and kinda like it better than Windows.
