I've seen two people with Vista that had the same problem (it wouldn't see msq's or logs inside of the install folder). The simple solution is just to use a folder on the desktop.

I used Win7 for a few months, but it kept getting slower and slower until it was barely usable. It suffers from the old-age slowdown much worse than XP does. It's worth the upgrade over Vista, but XP is still significantly faster.

I *can't believe* that microsoft is pushing Win7 for netbooks. Recent benchmarks even show that it's only marginally faster than Vista.

True. Although I am using i on my netbook, Im going to downgrade to XP this weekend. Win7 is not really what it's all hyped up to be. Ill gladly trade eyecandy for performance.

I'm head system admin for 45 schools with several 1000s pc's altogether. I do know a tiny bit what I'm talking about. Vista sucks and it looks very much as though W7 is heading the same way.

Marc and all...thanks for the help.

UPDATE for future searchers:

Win 7 doesn't like for programs to write and save files into their install folder.

The solution is simple...you have to save the datalogs and .msqs somewhere else. Then MLV will open both without a hitch all day long. Be careful moving things though as it's easy to lose your .inis etc.

I just started a folder on my desktop, had becomed to accustomed to living out of the project folder, which was giving me hell here.
that explains why I never got a problem with it. I make a habit of always writing to a data folder on a seperate partition
