'Nother resurrection. How is everyone calculating MPG's? Wait til its on a mark, put in X gallons of fuel, wait til its on the mark again and divide by X? Is this method relatively accurate?

What? No.

Pick one gas station (and preferably one particular pump). Fill up till it clicks off. Do not top off after it clicks off. Reset your trip odometer to zero.

Drive around, use most of the gas. When you need gas, return to the same station/pump, refill till it clicks, do not top off after it clicks. Record your mileage from the trip odometer and the gallons from the pump.

Miles / Gallons = MPG

Update v. Car is Now Running A Haltech.

Subject car is an 04 MSM, RC 550cc injectors.

Highway best of 33mpg, we've hit upon an average of 30mpg all highway, about 22-24mpg around town. Obviously when raping it, the numbers go down a little.

At this rate, the Haltech will eventually pay for itself due to improvement over Hydra.

Now that said.... let's get stupid.

My daily driver MX6 "tuned" on band-aids has achieved a best tank of 41mpg on the way to the GRM $2012 Challenge. Typically gets 35-37mpg all highway, and about 31-32mpg mixed.

So... that's pretty awesome.

MSM runs 14.7-14.8:1 at highway speeds, MX6 rapidly cycles between 14.5 and 15.1.

Yeah, what about it? I'm aware that's why the MSM does worse. Though... fun fact: I can't keep the MX6 out of open loop above 80mph, so it'll haul down the highway around 10.0:1 AFRs, while the MSM remains at 14.7 @ 80mph.

We aren't talking a HUGE difference in gearing, though... 400-500rpms at cruising speed.

I've been getting about 3 gallons per 6 auto-x runs. which is roughly 2mpg. Do I win anything?

You win for having mile-long autocross runs.

HAH!

Sorry... i totally didn't mean that in any sort of confrontational way. <3

I'm in the middle of putting together a weird hybrid transmission that will drop the MX6 down to about 2500rpm @ 70mph. I think i can touch 50mpg highway with this thing.

Get a room fgts....

....Meanwhile I tuned my car to cruise real lean (16-17afr) and crossing my fingers that this next tank will be impressive. I'm on e85 so impressive will be if I can hit like 28mpg
