MS-1 for 1992 turbo build question/confirmation
Dear Turbo Miata,
I am still a noob but I have spent most of my time since joining last week searching and learning. Although I did buy a MSD Miata timing retard box my searching prevented me from asking any questions about it before deciding I need Mega Squirt. My searching also lead me away from diesel truck turbo threads and FMU threads.
My car is...
1992 Mazda Miata classic red B package car
Drivetrain is a 1.6 from a manual transmission 1990 & 1992 automatic
My goals are ...
200-225 whp
What I have now ...
Greddy TD05H-18g turbo (from Honda kit not Mitsubishi car turbo)
Greddy 27x8x3 intercooler and all piping to make it fit in a 1990's Honda Prelude
Greddy 5 bolt down pipe flange will fabricate the rest of exhaust
RX7 460cc @ 43 psi injectors (195500-2010 )
Cast Iron Manifold .38 thick at flanges
Parts I need/want ...
Mega Squirt (reason for the thread)
water/meth injection will probably DIY
wideband AF gauge
Questions:
#1> My car is an automatic (sorry), I read a few threads by Braineak and Ben talking about variable TPS. I want it but I already have it right?
#2> I really enjoyed the "super important mega squirt thread" sticky.
Please confirm that the below parts list will get me to my goals and offer advise on why I would want MS-11 or MS-111. It looks to me like faster hardware and data logging are the advantages?
MS-I pcb 3.0 unassembled
MS tuning cable
PCBv3 and v 2.2 pullup, boost, relay IAC mod kits
IAT sensor
MS wiring bundle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I appreciate any advice about the turbo but I am not really looking for it. Please don't be upset if I don't heed your warnings and am forced to learn from my mistake if the turbo is too big. I understand that it might be a little bit 'laggy' especially with the automatic.
I am expecting the internal waste gate will open at 11psi and also understand I may need to run boost control and/or weld it and add an external waste gate to reach my power goals.
In my research it is near enough the t25/t28 that are so popular.
Greddy kit TD05H – 18g
Compressor Wheel diameter: 50.5/68
Turbine wheel diameter : 49.1/56
GT28
Compressor Wheel diameter: 54.28 /71.32
Turbine wheel diameter : 45.47 / 52.90
GT25
Compressor Wheel diameter: 42/60
Turbine wheel diameter : 46/53
My build goals are to be into my car for about $2000. I have $200 in my turbo kit so far and am into the car for under a $1000 my build sheet is below. I would like to have the turbo finished for $500 and spend another $500 or so on suspension.
I'm into the car for under $1000 and I have a spare head, oil pump and 2 big nose 1.6 cranks.
$400 - Miata with #3 rod out the side of the block
$50 - SNC 1.6 with keyway damage and good BNC 1.6
$20 - loctite kit
$80 - spray paint
$125 - battery
$40 - starter
$30 - timing belt
$10 - plugs
$200 - new tires (Goodyear Integrity on stock daisy rims)
--------------------------------------------------
$955 total!
