MS Dyno Tuner in the Dallas Area
I searched and came up with only old information. I need to have my car dyno tuned for track duty. Who is good in the Dallas area? And don't say Track Dog.

^ That is Steve Kan, who has a reputation as being one of the best. I emailed him a couple of weeks ago. He seems to be busy with much cooler cars than a boring N/A Miata, and he quoted me a price that is higher than what is listed on PRT's web site to do mine. I get the vibe he doesn't want to do it. There is a shop next to my home track that tunes Miatas with Squirts, but I don't have any idea how good they are, and Google turns up nothing on their results. It's a $400 to $500 gamble. Still looking. I need to have this car track ready for an Oct 28 track day.

^ Every last HP is what I'm thinking, since I'm still N/A and heavy. I have done some street tuning with conservative fuel and timing tables, but without more experience, I can't really tune for max power without doing it very incrementally and slowly. I also lack the time needed to complete it. Knocking it out in half a day on the dyno seems to be the way to go for my situation, assuming the tuner knows his stuff. <-- The rub is thataway.
I'm open to remote tuning, though. It's not rocket surgery.

Then make sure whoever tunes it does so on a proper (read: not DJ) dyno, and uses det cans and the oem knock sensor dialed in to work properly to tune it. Otherwise you're just setting money on fire, because the gains won't really be significant at all unless you're right on the edge of MBT. We turbocharge these cars cause they suck at making N/A power.

This seems crazy to me. I have previously searched this site, miata.net, and dwfmiata.com, and the only names I see are Steve Kan and hustler. Hmmm... My takeaway: I should probably just find the time to do it myself with a little ***-istance from my gay friends.

So I found a shop and decided to maybe set some money on fire to get the car ready for the track ASAP. Results in terms of power are much disappoint, but I doubt it's the tuner's fault. Tune is attached. Feel free to tear it apart!

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it.
Honestly, I think it's a little rich pretty much all over.
All I can go on is what the tuner guy told me, because I was not allowed anywhere near the dyno due to liability concerns. He told me he advanced the timing and saw no gains in most areas, so he reverted it. He also told me he played with the VVT and saw little difference from the base settings. This is a shop that specializes in tracked Mazdas and supposedly has a lot of experience with MS. He spent a good 4 hours on it. I dunno.
I won't have time to mess with this again until sometime next week, as I leave for 4 days at Hallett in the RX-8 Wednesday afternoon, and I have to get that car ready, but when I get back, I can do some baseline pulls for Virtual Dyno, then do some pulls with any changes anyone wants to suggest. Or, if any of our remote tuners want to have a crack at it, I am open to that as well.
