Default MS-I V3.0 Problem

Ok where should I start. Just to let you know I'm still a learner to MS, so explain yourself so I don't ask newbie questions. I'm running a mspnp base map for 94-95 miata on my ITB MX-3. I have flashed the MS and loaded the map. I changed the wideband settings to innovate. The car idles good, but it has a miss. I did my timing two times and it was correct.

1 problem: I installed an Innovate LC-1 wideband w/analog gauge. The MS will show A/F ratios for a few seconds (like 15.2 and around that area), then drop to numbers like 1.9, 1.7, 1.4, etc... The innovate gauge shows 8 (which is the lowest number on there), but if I barely hold the gas it will go to 10. Without this I cannot tune my car at all! I'm going to test the sensor by spraying carb cleaner onto a rag and putting the sensor in the rag. There is a youtube video about it.

2 problem: Ok here is where I think is messing everything up. I took my spark plugs out, and 1 & 4 are nice and black and 2 & 3 are brand new. Now, I crank them out of the engine and saw that 1 & 4 where really bright and 2 & 3 were not so bright. So I looked at my ignitor and it had corrosion. So I put in a spare one that I had and now It doesn't fire right. (I'm using DSM ignitors and the 1st one I had on there was a 92 style one, and the spare one was from a 94 style which has an extra 2 outputs. One says Vb and one says Tach) It wont idle unless I would give it some gas. I'm think is my coils that are going bad. I'm going to pick up some extra ones and try it again.

3 problem: So thinking that cylinders 2 & 3 were too clean, I decided to check my injectors. I tried testing the ohms, but I had a hard time holding the voltmeter tips to the small injectors. Then I just hooked up the voltmeter to the injector harness and cranked the engine. I can't remember the numbers but they were way off between cylinder 1 and cylinder 2 (I didn't test the other 2 thinking that was the problem, which it could be). But tomorrow I will compare all of them. I opened the MS and I could not see any signs of damage/burn to anything. I will also look at my solder joints. When I will test them, should I do voltage? What numbers should I be looking at if MS is grounding them? Any other way to test them?

Thanks!

you did not configure your **** properly.

set the MS configurator to "innovate lc-1 0-5v:10-20" (this is in the mspnp quick-guide and megamanual)
set MLV to the same
reset the lc-1 (read the lc-1 manual) check the lc-1 controller for the default output for the gauge, the 0-5v: 10-20 on the MS side

Well I got another set of coils and ignitor and nothing. I'm going to change my spark plugs one more time. I'm going to get another set of injectors and see if that helps. I think the MS is not grounding the injectors 2-3. How can I check that?

Thanks!

You can use a mechanics stethoscope to hear if the injectors are opening and closing, or even a big screwdriver.

I'd listen to hustler before he kills your dog and eats it.

Ok where do I find this on my Megatune? What do I have to open and change?

Alright back to cylinders 2-3. I went out to the parts store and rented a noid light kit to test if the injectors 2-3 were getting the MS signal. Well both of them didn't do anything. The outer ones did light up. So now I'm going to look through the harness and check for bad solder joints. I do have the MS grounds going direct to the battery, so I don't think ground is the issue here. I'm sure is the MS. Should I re flash it? If that doesn't work, what should I look for if one of the injector banks aren't working? I didn't build the board, my buddy did.

-Thanks!

that or the MS was built incorrectly.

I think I found the problem. This is on the faulty injector line. As you can see, the solder touche each other. I'm going to try to fix it and see what happens.

I'm a little late to the fire, but you have to go into the configurator and select the settings in the mspnp manual (lc-1 default), then check your configuration in the EGO correction window. Then, go to MLV and do the same.

So that was the problem, after playing with it for more than an hour I got rid of the extra solder and this is how it came out:

The car runs better now! I will re-install my innovate and go for a drive tomorrow!
