Is that the intake box behind the motor? If so, you need to a get a 323 GTX or 323 Turbo Intake Manifold as it will point that way

 

Very cool. My dad has a few MGAs sitting around...wonder if I could convince him to let me "borrow" one?

 

Tim made a new intake tube for it. It will sit behind the front grill. I honestly have no idea what the black box is. The owner told me, but I forgot.

That "black box" is the heater fan plenum box... fan sits on one side, blows towards the other then down and into the interior compartment down by your feet. For heat or defrost... just a little more uselses knowledge...

I may be wrong, but I seem to remamber that that would be the Fan/Blower Box for the Cabin Air. It holds the squirrel cage/motor for the defroster and heater.
