MS PNP in: No Tach?
Hello guys,
My buddy just installed my MS PNP(its for a '95)in my car last night. He read the manual and did everything step by step. He said the car runs much better than it did with the old ECU.
The only thing that is a problem is the tach doesn't work. He tried to go back and redo the whole setup again but still nothing. I'm currently deployed so I can't work on it right now but I just call him and talk from there. From my understanding after you do everything in the manual all should work great.
Any help is greatly appriciated.

I don't understand why it wouldn't run though? I read the manual too, watched all the videos, and it should run just like the original ECU. Just seems a lil puzzling to me.
Then you posted in the wrong section (I think). There should be a PNP sub-section. I thought it was one of the MS assembled by Brain or other builders. I had the same issue when I installed mine. However, I have an MS not a PNP.
Good luck.
Good luck.
The tachometer should work correctly with the MSPNP. Does the tach work with the stock computer? How many wires go to each coil pack (3 or 4)?
From last I heard it was working perfect before the ECU change. He said that everything on the system runs way better but the tach just doesn't work. I'm not sure on the coil pack question as I won't be home until March. I'll ask my friend to look right now.
Check the label on the bottom of the MSPNP - what revision do you have?
No revision letter code? If so, you have an early one (about 3 years old - was it bought used?) that didn't have the 95.5 tach output mod. In that case, you'll need to take the wire at pin 1F and splice it to the 2I wire.
"Update"
So I talked to my friend and did some research. It turns out that half way through 95 they switched coil packs. Mine was made in Jul 95 so it has the 4 wires going to each coil pack. My question is what do I have to do to make my tach work?

Confirmed - it should use JS0 for tach output.
