Default MS tuners local to socal

Does anyone know of a qualified MS tuner in the southern california area? I'd like to get the basics dialed in on my own, but I'd want a professional to dyno tune the rest of it.

It's a 92 with MSPNP 1.0, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Check this guy out. Have heard nothing but good things. I'll be headed there as soon as I get all my pennies together.

Shawn Church is the person to go to for tuning. Just had my Mercedes Cosworth with ITBs tuned by him and he did an awesome job!!

I had my MS1 tuned at Church. If you go there get Shawn and only Shawn. The rest of the guys don't seem to really know what they are doing.

I think Shawn did a good job but I didn't walk away thinking that the service was great or that I knew what I was really getting. Going into it I didn't know much about tuning and I didn't have anything to compare my experience/results to. He just needed to make the car run well and I would have been happy, which is what happened.

Is it the best tune possible? I don't know. Does the car seem to run well? Yes.

Thanks comdrade for sharing your experience. I purchased an enhanced ms2 from reverant and after a little autotune the car runs pretty good but still has some hiccups that I wanted to get ironed out. I was thinking a session with a good dynotune would get me there and that church would be the guy but maybe i'll keep searching.

He will do a good job, just don't expect to learn a lot while down there.

Also, Church has a flat rate option for tuning Miata's with Megasquirt's. Think it's equal to 2 hours of dyno time. I thought it would be a good deal in case things went long but it ended up being almost exactly 2 hours by the time we were done. Mind you my car was in a lot worse state going into the tuning than yours sounds. Mine didn't idle, barely ran. Installed everything together including ECU, supercharger, COP's, larger injectors, intercooler setup, etc.

Basically what I'm getting at is it might make sense to just pay the hourly rate for the tuning to save some dough.

How much did they charge for the miata flat rate?
