Default MS1 and Windows8 Connection issues.

I hate to ask but I have spent the past few days reading all I can find yet I still can't get my windows8 laptop to communicate with my freshly purchased but used MSPNP.
I know the MS works as it fires up my car but when ever I plug it into my laptop nothing happens.
Tried with MegaTune and TS. I tried searching for the device and it's as if nothing is plugged in. Downloaded the driver, still nothing.
I have that s-video looking cable that goes to serial and than there's a serial to usb adapter.

Should I be looking for a different USB adapter or pick up a cheap laptop from a pawn shop ???

The Wells TPS201 should be here tomorrow so I would like to start tweaking this weekend.
Thanks for any info and I promise, I DID SEARCH.

What drivers did you install?

Never mind.
Had a real blond moment but all is right with the universe now.
Yes, Tuner Studio and Windows8 play well together I was just too giddy and excited to install it all properly.

Sorry for the drama but I have a built in excuse. I'm a polak.
