Car: 95R, brain's build

I'm throwing this code up when I start the car. The car is NA at the moment, because I want to get this running before I start dismantling things. I can start the car, but megatune is not working right. I followed brain's instructions, which is similar to the one in the miataturbo wiki. The only thing I didn't do is "flash the file" (step 2). This is confusing because brain's instruction does not mention this, yet the miata wiki does. Brain's instructions mention copying the ".inc" files into my project's MTCFG folder, but the link no longer works. My com port is checked and working. Please help me make progress in my build!

no you dont. it should have been flashed, you dont to activate HR_10g firmware, should be in that writeup.

download these two files: Index of /MS/msq/firmware
to c:\ program files\ megatune\ megatune2.25\mtcfg

open up megasquirt configurator

under megatune 2.25 highlight the last ini file, msns-extra.hr.10g then go to file activate.

save, then open MT and try again.

that doesnt mean anything, that's the files youve ever loaded into MT not the MS.

open MS Downloader, should be in the megatune folder on the start menu.

now go to file read signature (after selecting the com port and speed), what does that say?

 

Huh, to get it to work, I have to open the msq file in the "90-93 no afm" folder first, before I turn the car on. If I try just opening megatune normally, I get the above message.

This is what I get when I use the MSPNP_MM9093_Base_Map_112807 - no AFM.msq in the folder.

Hitting yes just tells me it can't communicate to the controller.

 

I don't have MS Downloader in my start menu. I did a full install many many many times.

 

It should be there....in the megatune2.25 folder.


did you select the proper com port in MT?

 

I set up at 9600, on my com 2 port which is the port ms is reading off of. I get this in the Download...

^I can get the above with using megatune normally now! The only catch is that I have to open megatune, get the error in the OP, then turn the ignition to ON. My MS Download says...

ok we are back to your first error.

your MS is loaded with hr_10 code, but your software is looking for 029q.

once you download the two files and activate the code, you should not get that error. furthermore, the MS had a basemap on it. once connected and you go to file open and choose another, you lost what I loaded it with.

once you get it to connect without the error, you should start with the attached map.

 

You've been veryyyyyyyy patient with me Brain, I appreciate it. I redid what you told me with those two files, and start megatune up and hit activate. This is what my config looks like if it makes a difference. I have that MSnS.ini and MS_ECU.ini under the .hr10 from day one.

the extra files are no bother, are you still getting that error on power up?

 

I am. I guess I should reinstall completely?
