So I have a USB to serial adapter from DIY. I installed the drivers, USB is on COM4 under device manager. I plug the serial cable in, open up megatune, click on the communications tab, and go to settings. Then I click test, and it says no response. There is power going to the MS, cause when I plug in the coils I can see the lights light up when I turn the key on. Everything is on Com4 at 9600 bps. Any clue what is going on here? Faulty serial cable? It was brand new from DIY when I bought my adapter. Could something inside the MS have come loose? WTF!

You are attempting to connect to the MS when the car is on the ON position correct?

YES. Ignition is in ON position. With the coil wires disconnected, I should still be able to test the communications, right? My frustration level was jacked a few weeks ago with this F'n thing, but now that it's snowing, I have plenty of patience with it. I don't think I have ever seen anybody on this forum that didn't have a dozen problems with a MS, but once they got it straight, it was smooth sailing.
Try running the Port Check program with the Megasquirt plugged in and powered up. What results do you get?
