Default officially computer stupid (diypnp)

Okay . I've had a 96-97 diypnp for about three months and still haven't been able to get the car started. I think there are many factors that contribute to this.

When I load the base map I get 11 warnings. I don't think I have a tach signal because on the computer it reads between 1 and 0, like this 1-0-0-1-0. No tach means no fuel right?

I've been cool so far but now I'm getting depressed because I want to start hitting the track. HELP ME. I have no ideas.

Please don't bitch at me. Megasquirt I'd really appreciate if someone could help out. Thank you.

Very small voltage spikes will cause the tach MS to jump a bit. You mean 1rpm, right? Not 1k rpm? What will it do, crank? Check for spark while cranking if it does. And can you hear the fuel pump turn on briefly when you turn the key?

Yeah 1 rpm. Yes I can hear the fuel pump to. I have spark. It sounds like the timing is off and no fuel at all. I try to crank and I get backfire. I really don't want to mess around with it anymore on my own.
I think my problem is the warnings issue but I honestly can't interpret them.

view the log of the warnings and post it. what version firmware do you have loaded, and what version MSQ did you load?

post the msq you used.

if you follow the writeup on diyautotune.com you shouldnt have any issues.

Alright let me go outside really quick. Thanks.

If I can't get this right I might have to swallow it and take advantage of one of your pnp's.

or just get your diypnp working. it's a much better platform. I wouldn't' be opposed to taking a look at it if you cover return shipping a few bones for my time.

I tried using ms2extra rel 2.1.1a. with their start up map. Had to learn how to take a screen shot real quick.

The warnings you are seeing are because you have a firmware mismatch. The firmware our start up map was based on was the 2.1.1 beta that was current at the time. You loaded a different/newer firmware into your ECU.

I'd recommend going ahead and loading the newest firmware, which right now is 3.0.3r available from the MSExtra website.

You will need to hand create the entire map, though you can move the spark and ve tables over as .vex files (import/export) if you want.

Sounds like you might have some other issue(s) as well, but we need to start with a good map before moving forward.

I started out with the 3.03r but when I had the first mismatch I tried the 2.1.1a. I'll go ahead and create the new map.

My spirits are lifted. Thank you.

I finished the map. But there were some differences. If you guys wouldn't mind looking general settings and The acceleration wizard. I don't understand the values.
(left side is the new one)
edit: I also updated the firmware to 3.0.3r on the car.

Map sampling - try map sample window 10, map sample degree 90. That is what is standard in there.

Okay I will. Thanks!

Right now I'm trying to read a bunch of new tuner studio threads.

If your back firing your timing is prob. way off.... Do you have a ms1 or 2 because i wasn't aware of a ms2 pnp. You can only run firmware for the chip you have, that would be a reason for errors. Need more info, please put your car setup in your sig.

I've read the Setting the Acceleration Enrichments in the tuning guide but I still don't understand how to get the values. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

That's something im still messing with, but one thing to keep in mind is that in the code the numbers you are setting are their percent or rate of change. In other words how fast your tps or map reading is moving. I would post my info up, but its not good enough yet...

Here's what I've been using:

MAPdot threshold :100
Accel Time: 0.3
Accel Taper Time: 0.1
End Pulsewidth: 2.0
TPSdot threshold: 80.0
Decel Fuel Amount: 90
Cold Accel: 0.0
Cold Multiplier: 130

Rate (%/s):

65.8 - 1.0ms
330 - 1.3ms
627 - 1.6ms
938 - 2.5ms
