first thing you need to do is get the laptop to connect before trying to crank. however it should start right up as i flashed it with a msq that should be close to what you need.

when you cranked it what happened? i dont understand this sound you are tlaking about....did it just crank and nothing happened?

did you install the fuel pump wire?

help me help you.

go through my how-to sticky again. i copied and added to the instructions i sent you.

you need to get the laptop working...do you know what com port your serial cable is on? you must go to communication>settings and make sure it matches. it must also be on 1-4 com ports only.

once you confirm both, turn the ignition to ON, the PC should make a cool noise and your guages should light up. verify everything looks good. 0RPM, 97-101kPa, clt and ait temp looks ambient, etc.

before you crank make sure you changed all the settings i suggested in the configurator.

make sure you install both the AIT sensor and fuel pump wire or else it wont run.

once all that is done try cranking it.

also verify the solenoid is wired corrected, remove it altogether for the moment, mine doesnt make noise, but others say it clicks on startup.

i followed your directions exactly up until i plugged in the serial cable and tested the connection for ports 1-4 and it said no response with the key on

the serial cable i have now is a 15 pin cable that has a monitor symbol on the back, when i go to the device list the only com port is the printer so do i need to get a serial adapter to fit the printer or a usb adapter?

now that i put it back to the factory ecu and plugged everything exactly how it was, it starts but will not keep running, so i either need to fix that or hook megasquirt up because the car is stuck at my parents house

in the instructions you sent me you said to install the software for the serial cable...where do i get that because mine doesnt register any communication port other than the printer???

All the help you can offer will be much appreciated because i kind of need my car to run!!

That doesn't make much sense. You should be using a straight through DB9 cable. DB9 as in 9 pins, not 15.

You won't be able to communicate with MS that way. You have two options:
Use a computer with a real DB9 port.
Get a USB-to-DB9 adapter.

Yeah. Pretty much.
You can get a DB9 to USB adapter all kinds of places. I use the one from radioshack. It's expensive but it works perfect everytime. I had trouble with the Belkin one i got so stay away from that one.

When using a straight DB9 connection with no adapters you don't need any drivers.
When using a USB-DB9 adapter you will need the driver provided by the manufacturer.
