Default Plug and play dash gauge for NB (and soon NA) for Megasquirt

Hi guys,

as mentioned in this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...cluster-91370/ I managed to put the little CAN Megasquirt gauge in the spot of my dummy oil pressure gauge.

Now the developer of the gauge found this so interesting that he managed to develop a PNP version of the gauge especially for the MX-5/Miata MK2 aka NB (NBFL as well of course).

There will be an NA version of the gauge soon.

And as I just read there will also be an OBD2 version coming...

I am in no way connected to the company (other then giving birth to the idea) and lending a NA gauge cluster for development - but feel free to check out the gauge at 52mm Display - CANchecked - Displays für Motormanagements
(obviously the NB gauge didn't even make it to the homepage up to now)

This won't fit in the location that the gauge in OP does.

Correct. Not without a LOT of hacking.
I really like where this is going though. I fitted an AEM uego into an nb2 cluster before, it was a whole lot of work removing it from the gauge and then cutting the cluster to fit the guts, if this is completely pnp with zero cutting/modification, its a brilliant idea.

I don't know how big DIY's gauge is but with enough cutting, I fit an aftermarket Oil Pressure gauge in the stock location. Doesn't look pretty but it works.

DIY's is big. The LED's around the ring make it unable to be modified to work, without sacrificing something in the cluster. The LED's are a large enough circle diameter that they would cover up the hash marks for 6k rpm and 50 mph. You would think that it'd be like any other 52mm gauge, but most gauges are 52mm shaft diameter and just slightly larger gauge face diameter (which most of that is just plastic trim that can be removed to make them much slimmer). The DIY gauge is 69mm diameter with the LED's restricting making it smaller.

I'd be super down for this if an NA version was released. Clean option for those of us running street cars.

Will do - they told me they are doing the installation manuals atm.

P.S.: NC Cluster in preparation now...

Sign me up for NA version as well, if it can support GM ECUs!

I just wanted to give you a quick headsup- the NA/NB version of the gauge seems to be available (MS version only - OBD and NC version still in progress)

See here:
Mazda MX5 Tachoumbau NA/NB/NC > CANchecked - Displays für Motormanagements

If you got questions feel free to contact Hendrik at CanChecked ...

Am I to understand from the DIY page description this is reading sensors from the CAN bus?
As well as being a CAN device for three additional sensors too?

Yes it's reading the MS CAN bus and shows the values.
I think the sensors are just for standalone 0-5V sensors, not CAN.

Nice, This is exactly what I've been looking for.
I looked at CANChecked's site and the manual but couldn't sorry if it's possible to change/cycke through pages or configure via PC or small remote like the PLX?

I have my CANchecked NA display sitting at home ready to get wired up. The display has a micro USB port for future firmware upgrades, as well as a remote push/turn **** for toggling and adjusting the displayed data. That **** can be mounted anywhere, e.g. at the illumination adjuster

How do you order it? I didn’t see a price or order feature on the site. Awesome idea.

They have a dealer list, although I'm only seeing EU dealers listed. If anyone knows of a stocking US dealer, I'm all ears.
I had planned to do this with a PLX gauge for less $$, but it may be worth going this route.
