IDK. 300€ might save me 3000€ in the future once the built-in buzzer warns me of a low oil pressure etc.

Also, a 2din Android radio to display shadow dash values costs almost as much and isn't in direct sight. It also might lure somebody to break into my car, which the gauge doesn't. I like its stealthy appearance

One of my friends bought the 52mm in dash option for his NBB - he's had a few firmware issues with it so far. For a while alerts didn't work properly, and there were a few other niggles like the screen refresh seeming really slow.
He's been in contact with the firmware devs for it and they are helping, but it's a fairly slow process.

Not sure if the 2.8" screen is any better, but it's probably worth doing more investigation - I was looking to get one too but it's put me off a bit.

In the meantime I made a magnetic mount for an old nexus 4, and with a bluetooth connection, MSDroid and Tasker it actually works really well - it powers on when I start the car, can display everything from within the MS and you can make tuning changes on the go if you wanted. If I leave the car anywhere I just take it off the mag mount and stow it away. I've not got as far as testing it with shadow dash to see if that can do alerts / buzzers etc though.

ouch, for that kind of money, you'd expect it to be functioning properly

I'm sure it'll get there, but I think they've been caught out by the success and rushed a few things to get it on the market while there's interest - when they sort the firmware out it'll be an awesome little unit

Hello guys,

I just find this thread and I'm happy to see, there seems to be interest on our solution for the NA/NB clusters.

We are a young company so please give us time to fix those errors which might occur. We are improving and so do our products.
if any questions occur, do not hesitate to get in contact with us.

There is a UK dealer as well:
Boost United - NA Display
Boost United - NB Display

I'm in contact with Richard and convinced we will find a solution.

Cheers

CAN plus 0-5v would be quite handy for those of us running stock ECUs. Replace the factory pressure switch with an analog sensor, and then configure the gauge such that IF RPM > 500 AND OILPRESS < (some arbitrary value) THEN BEEP AND FLASH.

So it's programmed in BASIC?

Like all computers whose inner workings I am unfamiliar with, it is programmed in pseudocode.

0-5v or able to pair to an OBD2/ELM dongle?

This is the only reason I haven't ordered one yet, as I'm still sorting MS3 or MaxxECU - so an installed gauge doesn't 'help' in the interim. (Although reading above, might make sense to wait a little bit.. ?)

OBD2 so it can read RPM. (Also also whatever else I might want to use it for.) I'd honestly prefer a hard-wired OBD2 connection as opposed to a Bleautooth link to a 3rd party dongle. That sort of thing often winds up being complicated and less-than-entirely-reliable.

Also a separate 0-5v input for an oil pressure gauge, as this isn't available in OBD2.

From what I can gather from the product description, the are-yet-unreleased OBD2 version will support this connectivity. I just haven't been able to find an English version of the manual, so I can see whether it supports this sort of two-variable scripting for alarms. An analog (or analog-like) OPG gauge is nice, but I'd really like something that angrily screams at me if my oil pressure falls below a limit, with the caveat that I'd prefer it not to be screaming at me any time the key is on but the engine is not running.

Actually, I can think of a way to do this in the old-school method. Use the alternator warning light to gate the oil pressure signal. If ALT = ON, then OPG is forced to a normal value. One relay and two resistors would do it.

Come to think of it, I might just go ahead and build this with the stock oil pressure switch in place. Does anybody know the spec for the trip point on the NB oil pressure switch?

Quite overwhelming feedback.

So the gauge has 4 analogue inputs - you can connect pretty much everything which guves you a linear 0-5V signal. On our website (https://canchecked.de/analoge-eingaenge/ - check the translate button on the top right) we listed all tested sensors but the list goes on and on.
We do not have OBD2 connectivity (yet). MS3 is fully supported - MaxxECU is easy to implement (send us a PM if there is an urgent need).

We have an english installation manual which covers basically everything.

Our analogue inputs and the AFR values have a so-called "reference sensor/value" feature. You define sensorX (RefSensor) which needs to pass valueY (RefValue), so the alarm gets triggered. If the RefSensor does not exceed the RefValue, the alarm does not get triggered.. eg:
- oil pressure:
MinWarnValue: 2bar
MaxWarnValue: 5bar
RefSensor: RPM
RefValue: 800
=> if RPM is below 800 nothing will happen. As soon as RPM is ABOVE 800 and oil pressure below 2bar => ALARM (popup or just warning)

RefSensor / RefValue (old software - now everything is in english)

ELM is a pretty good hint. We have everything on our desk to test, just no time up to now.

It's only two of us (Stephan and me - Hendrik). We have a full time job, families and houses we need to take care of as well.

Just thought i'd drop in and say we're massive fans of the Can Checked here at BOFI and now the weathers improving and we've had a good ~4 months of testing of it in various cars, we'll be putting together a review / guide.

Cheers
