PnP MS for '94?
I shot KingofL337 a pm about this, but he never responded. Does anyone know if he's made progress on his PnP setup for the 1.8 cars? Is there a way to use pre-made harnesses? I could do it myself, but everyone I've heard who did do the wiring themselves said they would buy a pre-made harness in a heartbeat.

I think you're thinking of people who actually assembled the MS themselves instead of buying preassembled. That definitely would be worth the extra 140$. The board mods and wiring aren't too bad. Plus if you do them yourself you'll actually know what's going on. You're probably going to want to add stuff like EBC and fan control, etc, so you'll be opening the box up and soldering and wiring anyway.

For those who want a PnP MS:

We have been working with an established company, Spectre Performance, as the first example of application under license. They will be introducing their Phantom EMS unit for sale in Q2 of this year. This particular implementation has taken the base MS1 unit and provided several enhancements, including upgraded connector, more application-direct I/O, a re-write in the PC tuning software, etc. Additionally, this product will be offered to an audience who desires a more “plug-n-go” implementation, as compared to the current MegaSquirt audience of DIY. So this should not be viewed as a direct competitor to the DIY version of MegaSquirt, but as a system that is targeted to a more “consumer” market, priced aggressively compared to existing aftermarket solutions. This is a totally different world with different rules, so it will be interesting to see how this unfolds over the coming months.

Well come on Jerry fill us in. If we're all gonna throw down and get in on MS you should atleast tell us if we should wait or not. I really don't want to get my V3.0 board all put together for MSI and find out something better/smaller just came out that will run MSnSE or something similar.

I really can't say much just yet... But count on the earlier cars coming first... and everything about it being 'taken to the next level'. I need to shut my cakehole now .

Matt,
are you THAT desperate with the Hydra? Anyway, do what I did and run the MS in parallel with the stock ECU. This will save you from having to tune idle valve, do extra voltage regulation, VTCS, VVT, EGR, purge canister, etc.

It was "ok" for idle and vtcs. did purge fine. love the VVT implementation... but the old firmware was no good for voltage and the hydra never will do EGR. I even modified my turbo manifold with the EGR pipe. I'd like to use it.
Also, I think DC doesn't care about CARB or visual stuff, just the OBDII port. If I can get the hydra and stock ECU to play nice--well that's less work every 2 years.
That said, I'm really doing it just to do it. Like running a Tec3 for a year and moving to the hydra. I can't seem to not have a project to work on for too long!
