Default Rev Limit setup

I have a DIYPNP in a 2000 Miata set up for autocross (CSP), we spin the engine up pretty high to keep from having to change gears some times and I'm not 100% sure what is the best was to set the limit.

Currently it's set to:

Algorith Fuel&spark cut
Rev Limiter CLT based normal
Maximum Retard (deg) 12
Soft Rev Limit 7500
Hard Rev Limit 7900
the next three are greyed out
Cut X spark 4
from Y events 5

From what I understand from reading it starts pulling spark at 7500rpm then fuel and spark at 7900. I would really like to have what ever little bit of power there might be in that 400rpms so what would be the difference in just setting the hard and soft to the same? I do have a shift light that comes on before the hard limit so it is very rarely if ever hit it so I don't think over run will matter.

Thanks

at the soft limit it starts to retard ignition timing, up to 12 degrees from the value listed in your spark map. it doesnt cut spark or fuel.

at the hard limit it cuts fuel and cuts 4/5 spark events.

you could move the soft limit closer to the hard limit if you need full power at higher RPM's

You could make the soft limit 7900 too.
