So what would make a timing light flash once?
Trying to get friends 1.8 (97) swap into a 92 car using a MSI HiRz with his current map from the 1.6 turbo. Using Mapdot (no TPS), No IAC.
Car kicks but does not start. Timing light connected it flashes once when you start cranking it and again when you let go if the key but not during cranking?
But if you pull a plug and sit it out I can see it sparking but the light won't??? Tried two timing lights same issue.

Ok change school of thought, car runs if you pump either into air filter, maybe it is a fuel thing. Still cant explain the spark but it ran for 5 seconds on a air filter soaked in starting fluid.
