Default Thoughts on New Mesgasquirt 3.57 PCB??

New board, because of it surface mount condition you can't get 3.57 in unassembled (though maybe it's only .57 because it is pre-assembled).

Just looking for some thoughts on it, I've got to buy and build another one, but saw the 3.5 and was thinking about the convience of having it pre-built for an additional 100 bucks. I guess that's still 50% more expensive.

The 3.57 is almost identical to the 3.0 in terms of the schematic. They added pullups resistors on the LED circuits (although they're 1k instead of 220-330) and a few other trivial things. Also, the 3.57 does not have a proto section, so if you're planning on a lot of mods, bear that in mind. On the plus side, they have an extra DB-15 connector on them which is solely for "expansion" I/O (all of the pins are available) so if you've ever felt crunched for pins on the DB37, that's a nice bonus.

Internally, the MSPnP uses a 3.57 assembly. They can get away with this since the majority of the hardware used for common "mods" are located on the daughterboard which hosts the OEM ECU connector.

Personally, I still prefer the 3.0 for DIY use. It'd be a pain to find space on the 3.57 board to put all the mods you might need or want. And I actually find the act of assembling them to be somewhat therapeutic.

Thanks for the insight Joe. I'll be getting the 3.0 then. Whee...time for my second MS build.

My first one was such a beauty, I wish I could find it. If/when I do it'll get sold I guess.
