Trying to get started the RIGHT way

Hello every Miata tuners!

I'm looking to get a STOCK miata 1990-1993 miata Basemap for my MS2 Extra 3.2.1

I Recently bought the Megasquirt from blean99. It was preloaded with His tune. Well i changed some setting for my car but i just feel im going no where..It start, Its running rough and cant get into a decend tune enought to drive it.

I would like to start from the begining with a stock map. In my opinion it would be a lot easier. Or if anybody could make a base map for a 1990 miata 1.6 engine with 440cc, stock cas, stock tps, Gm iat. Well just to start the car and be able to take it to my garage.

Thanks

Download the MSPNP9093 basemap. Only difference will be the injectors which you can fudge with "Req Fuel."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

don't put a MSI map on your MS2.

you should have left his tune on it. it was based around that particular MS2 and all the inputs and outputs match how it was built.

Hornetball ball gave you AWFUL advice and I hope you saved a copy of the tune that was loaded. All you should have done was tweak a few parameters to match your injectors.

You have a custom build, ms2, by yours truly. Dont load MSPNP MS1 maps, MSPNP2 MS2 maps, DIYPNP MS2 maps, MS3 maps, or any other maps. please tell me you saved a copy of the loaded tune...

Assuming that he was using TunerStudio, a backup will have been automatically saved into the /restorePoints/ directory within his Projects folder.

Yes i saved it!! but still now no cluster tach whatever i do!

I attach the tune inside the Ms when I had it! this one is untouched! If anybody could set it right to me for 440cc, Stock TPS, Stock MS map, no AFM, And stock CAS. It would be amazing to be able to at least start the car and drive under 3000rpm to bring it to my garage to work on it! cuz now my neighboors plan on killing me.

regain the tach but putting a 1K resistor in the diagnostics box between IG- and B+. If if doesn't work with the Stock ECU now, then the ignition settings of the MS were changed from how it was built and the ignitor is burnt up.

Ok well i decided to go back with stock ECU for testing purposed, the car doesnt even as it was starting before. I checked spark plug for spark and i got no spark at all.

1- So if i understand correctly my ignitor is burnt up??
2- Will this have caused damaged to my megasquirt?
3- What should i do to Avoid this again?
4- Anybody Qualified for that. How much for a WORKING basemap, i'm just pissed, i dont want to run around all the summer, I work alot and i dont have much spare time

stevenmiata 04-06-2013 09:49 PM

no clue anybody?

jnshk 04-06-2013 10:32 PM

Not sure but perhaps the ignitor may have been burned out by the wrong tune being loaded (if something related to "spark inverted" changed) and trying to run the car?

Sorry OP. What I meant was that the MSPNP2 basemap would have VE and spark maps that might be closer to your situation.

I wasn't specific. I did give you awful advice. Sorry.

yes, this.

it depends on how the MS is built.

stevenmiata 04-07-2013 12:05 PM

so how could i know if i need to set it inverted or not in tunerstudio?? anything i can see clearly in the ms like a jumper or something

stevenmiata 04-07-2013 02:25 PM

well i tested my ignition switch.. looks like its receveiving 12v input in but not giving any output so hopefully tomorrow's coming fast ill try to find one ASAP to put back MS in once i can start it with my STOCK ECU

 Dude, -epically- bad advice.

Steven: From what you described, all you needed to do was change your fuel VE maps or tweak injector settings (And I will remind you, I did specifically tell you this in PMs!!!!), not....I hope you the best of luck man, that was truly bad advice from Hornetball.

Re-flash to your previous tune ASAP, and copy fuel maps from other basemaps if you have to, but don't flash to random tunes in the future!

I also have to change tps calibration an set it to run on the stop cas coil and igniter since im not running on COP .

Well i hope i didnt screw my megasquirt . Ill let you guy know tomorrow if my car start at least on the stock ECU

blaen99 04-08-2013 12:53 AM

Dude....

89-93 didn't come with a working vTPS if they weren't autos - and that wasn't setup for an auto. Stahp.

Fail thread

Joe Perez 04-08-2013 02:29 AM

I'm not sure why we even bother. The sun is going to go nova in 4 billion years anyway, and when that happens, it won't really matter whether you have an analog TPS or not, will it?

It's all pointless. Just boil the oceans and get it over with.
