Hello, Im on only day 2 of a first time megasquirt install and am slowly letting it autotune, the tips in this threat really do help, especially locking out the idle cells. I do have a weird issue i dont know how to fix: When i "tip in" to the throttle, whether i am tapping the gas when slowly pulling away from a stop sign, or matting it to the floor, i see my AFRs go off-the-scale lean for a half second (the WB02 gauge reads "---") before going back to normal. This is accompanied with a short delay in the power coming on, almost like a hesitation. What could this be? This did not happen with the factory ECU
Thanks for the help. The friend who helped me with the spark map said to avoid asking questions here lest i get yelled at for being new but i have faith :) do you have a vTPS? (ie, is your car a 1.8L) what version of MS do you have? short answer: tune your accel enrichments. real answer: go fuck yourself. |
^What he said. It is your accel enrichments.
Answer his questions and you will likely get a more detailed response. |

I actually said to search, search and search, not just ask the question as a NOOB! Lol

for a more helpful answer I need this:
do you have a vTPS? (ie, is your car a 1.8L) what version of MS do you have? short answer: tune your accel enrichments. real answer: go fuck yourself. Oh and you go fuck yourself, too (This must be some kind of cultural friendly greeting on this forum. I'm learning fast!) |
You need to read up on acceleration enrichment and other threads discussing that issue. What I have found to be most effective is to disable it completely as well as any other corrections and enrichments so that you are accurately tuning your fuel map. Use smooth throttle inputs all the time while tuning, easy on the throttle. No sudden movements. the lean spikes will generate inaccurate adjustments while autotuning. After your fuel map is relatively dialed in, use corrections and enrichments to be nitpicky with specific situations, like throttle tip-in, downshifting, etc.

I am certain TS filters out adjustments to the fuel map while the AE (accel enrichment) is active. Notice the little yellow bar beneath the filter settings that appears when a filter is active appears when AE is operating.
What it doesn't do is set up the AE settings to optimal. That is a manual tuning operation. |
