Default wasted spark trouble.

Hi.
I'm trying to get a "non-miata" started and hit a wall, so I hope it's ok.
The ms forum guys don't even try to help most the times there.

When it says connect out-to,
ign, = D14
spr3, = D15
sp2, = D16

it means to connect
it in order like:

cyl 1-6 to ign
cyl 2-5 to sp2
cyl 3-4 to sp3
Then choose wasted spark in TS good to go?

All the logic level coils need is a 5v signal to let it know when to fire.
Megasquirt (V3.0 board) - Spark/ignition output

I used 4k7 resisters going from +5v in proto
to the top side of the D14, D15, D16
like in the diagram. Is that the way to do it?

Before it was just using a single coil driver.

I put it in test mode and see if it even fires and I can't fire the coil the
way it's hooked up and also all coil wiring is correct. It's something to do
with MS.

Any and all opinions are very welcomed.

I can't help you directly, but I remember that somebody has posted a "howto" for straight-6 wasted spark on MS over on the BMW E28 forum.

check BMW E28 5-series Resource - MyE28.com in the forced induction section. "wasted spark" as a search term.

Thanks stefanst.

Matt Cramer from diy answered my question on another forum.
I needed big boy 100ohm resisters instead of those.

Even though the manual says 4k7.
Thanks Matt.

Did you install 4700 ohm pullup resistors? Not sure which write up you followed, but I'd expect it to call out 470 ohm, not 4700.

If those are IGN-1A coils, you will need much more pullup. Replace your 4700's with 100 ohm 1/4 watt. Those coils take a pretty strong signal to trigger.

Thanks for commenting Ben.

Well I was just going off of the inaccurate MS manual
4k7 resistors.

Looking at the DIY site again, it says to use a 250-300ohm
Don't know how I missed that.

I just hope the 100ohm will give me a trouble free life. They're firing just fine btw.
