Is anyone aware of a ready-made extension harness that can be plugged between the MegaSquirt and stock '99-00 wiring loom? My car's connectors are beginning to fall apart due to periodic switching between stock ECU and Megasquirt. If I can get an extension that would help tremendously.

I assume I can make my own if I can source the right connectors but want to see if one is already our there and cheap enough to make sense to buy.

Thank you, Patrick. I am aware of Boomslang (should have mentioned it).

That's why I've put "cheap enough" in the post. I hope to find something a little more reasonable than $100. Possibly someone with time on their hands to make one and make some money. Otherwise I would probably have to put one together myself.

And just so I can contribute something for the future, here are the parts needed for this harness (Mouser catalog and others carry them). These are preliminary I've ordered samples, will report back:

So far the issue I see is that most/all 64 pin receptacles are board-mountable, not wire-to-wire which would make it easier to make the extension harness. not a big deal but I'll try and see if I can find one.

diyautotune has the connector for mazda in their clearance section. pretty cheap, especially if you're ordering other stuff there anyway, like wires

Ordered a sample of the conector from TE for now, will see how it goes. I wish that there was a regular pin type connector instead of the board mounted one to which the wires must be soldered. But, according to TE, a mating pin (so called wire-to-wire) male receptacle does not exist for 16, 22 and 26 pin females on the car's harness.

I've been looking at the connectors that show up from TE. The female connectors look good. The male, however, is a circuit board type instead of push-pin type. The latter would be easier to use.

So... does anyone know of either a single proper 64-pin connector or discrete 16, 22 and 26-pin connectors that would take push pins instead of being board-mount type?

I'm looking to relocate my ms3 basic to the glove box/passenger airbag area. I've got the part numbers in this post in an onlinecomponents shopping cart, they have a 50 dollar minimum and of course don't sell TXL or GXL wiring so I'm pissing money away buying from them.

So here are the current options for extending the harness as I see them:
-Full DIY - Onlinecomponents for the connectors and pins ($50) and about ($70 in wires elsewhere) - $130 Total
-Buy AEM harness extension and splice extension wires in using solder grip connectors - $129 for patch harness ( ) - $50 dollars for wire, $20 connectors - $200 total
-Buy Boomslang Custom Patch Harness 40" - $450 total
-Relocate ecu using factory harness. It seems that the engine harness will fit but one of the 3 connectors doesn't have wiring that's long enough. So you'd have to splice in extensions for the one connector.

Any splicing I do to any patch or oem harness will be done with soldergrip connectors.

So dafuq do i do??? Assume I have the dash fully stripped already, cause i do.
-Boomslang - easiest but holy ***** expensive
-DIY - PITA but cheapest
-Buy AEM and splice - pretty easy even though middle of the road expensive - Does splicing in extension wires into a patch harness like this add significant enough impedance to matter?
-Splice extensions into factory harness - easiest in terms money but splicing into harness meh. Impedance issues again?

Check at Mouser and digikey, they sell the same parts and don't have a minimum order size.

I did a full DIY, but IIRC the wire only cost about half that. I bought it from ebay -- 18 gauge teflon coated.

little update. I priced everything out at mouser and online components to see what the cheapest I could put this together for.

There is no way around spending 50 dollars for the connectors and pins. If you're going to stick to TXL or GXL (a mixture of 18 and 20 gauge) wiring you're into the wiring for about 60 dollars shipped. Basically you're into this for 110 before labor at current prices.

I reached out to autosportwiring.com and they quoted me a price of 177 for a 48" extension harness with white wire.

Long story short... I said fuggit and bought from autosport wiring. I paid it on sunday and Richard from autosportwiring.com had it shipped before the close of business day on Monday.

I should have it by the end of the week, I'll post some pictures.
