who's using AEM uego?
Ok I'm throwing in the towel. The fight between myself and the LC-1 has come to a point where I'm completely convinced that in any situation other than absolutely perfect conditions it is just to high maintainence. or a complete piece of shit which ever you prefer to call it. I've been through two now the first was a confirmed and rma'd defective unit. the second wouldn't program and has now completely quit working after a firmware update to try and fix the programming issue. long story short I just don't trust it in a 1990 mazda that will never have perfect electrical conditions.
So I'm just wondering who is using the AEM products, and if you have had any issues with said units? |
Ummm .... lots of us? I'm pretty brain-dead at car stuff and installed the AEM, works fine, no problems at all.
I am using it. I tried using an add-a-circuit and that didnt work. Now that i have it wired in to the blue driver's side clip, everything is working swimmingly.
I've had one in my car for over a year and no problems with it thus far.
I'm running one. Got one xmas of 07. Around March 08 or so it went all shitty and quit working. Took like 2mo to convince AEM that I wasnt crazy and it was borked. Been fine since they sent a replacement though.

Funny that this topic comes up just now. I'm getting ready to replace my AEM with an LC-1 / XD-16.
The AEM works pretty well, though I seem to have a chronic and growing miscalibration of the analog output which I've been unable to correct. I went with the LC1 this time as it is supposedly much faster responding than the AEM, so perhaps I can tighten up my closed-loop operation a bit. |
Satisfied UEGO user here.
Went from uego to lc1 (unit failed) back to uego. |
After two LC1s died I went UEGO. While it doesn't seem as responsive as the LC1 nor as configurable it's insanely durable in comparison.
UEGO here. No problems minus this burning rash.
Nice timing on this thread. I was pondering the choice and I think it looks like I am going UEGO as well. Can't tie the WB into Zoom 3 anyway, so a nice, easy to read guage will help me with road tuning.
+1 UEGO, I installed it through the extra output on ms. Configured it like said on this forum, and it works perfectly (thus far) though I have yet to do any "real" tuning other than idle cells.
UEGO user here too, no problems, about as easy as an install gets
UEGO user here connected to Link. Works great.

On this topic, I found a NIB unit with full warranty for $220 shipped. Good deal or can I get that from a board sponsor or other retailer? I need to purchase one.
wow, I definitely didn't expect that much of a response. I know that a lot of people claim that it's allways "installer error" that makes the LC-1s go ape shit, but I'd been a professional installer of aftermarket automotive goods for the better part of 15 years. I am also MECP certified in automotive electronics. So I know it's not me. I wanted the best and should have looked a little deeper. Bad on me, but at least it was only 200 bones and a month worth of time wasted. lesson learned. thanks for the feedback fellers.
Off topic I have to get MECP certified this month, and I haven't touched the study guide more than 10 minutes..
Good luck! lol
I have my Advanced, I should have gotten my Master Cert. before I quit Best Buy since they were paying for it. Oh well. |
sold my lc-1 about 2 years ago to buy the AEM and haven't looked back. still on the original sensor too.
